June 29, 201312 yr Once Vegas lit up at night with HDR tech used be visually like good porn. This is what Xplane needs landmarks so the average person feels they flown some place. The textures could be better but this is the start Xplane needs developers like this to bring people over from fsx world. Too many see the forest with small details and miss the big picture. Tom Curtis made this gotta give credit a lot of people wanted this exact thing. Xplane 10 like ole west before the railroads across the country. FSX is old world
June 29, 201312 yr May I ask whether in X-plane 10 we have ground object casting shadow on ground? Cause if not I think it really hurts the "feeling". I am very tempted to purchase X-plane 10 for its 64 bit and still growing platform, but the "too dark looking" cloud, and still few hard-core system aircraft addons make me keep watching on the side line... BTW: what max texture size X-plane 10 can handle now? 4096? Cause I found many new airport addons for X-plane 10, the textures were not the sharp...
June 29, 201312 yr May I ask whether in X-plane 10 we have ground object casting shadow on ground? Yes, they have. While mthe maximum texture size isw in faqct 4096, the used bitmaps can be much smaller due to graphic settings. Furthermore: if HDR is used it also adds a slight haze, which would look in a screenshot like a texture that isn't very sharp. In reality you normally don't see objects really sharp and this is simulated. You can't compare the graphic engines. Karsten Schubert
June 30, 201312 yr It depends on the airport. If the airport was generated for X-Plane 9 it had to use LIT textures, but there use is discouraged for X-Plane 10 in favor of the HDR system, where you simply place the light sources and X-Plane 10 does the rest, so every moving aircraft is lit correctly and gets its own shadows. I wouldn't know any new airport that wouldn't use the new, much simpler and natural model. Thank you Ranger!
July 1, 201312 yr Quote by Tom Curtis: "This scenery will be released in two packages. The first release will include KLAS and KHND plus about 8 of the landmark hotels and casinos along the strip near the airport. Within a few weeks I'll release several more hotels as part of a free update. And I'll continue building hotels and casinos until I have all of the major ones built. These, too will be available as free updates to my initial package.I also have quite a bit of work done on KLSV ( Nellis AFB ) and KVGT (North Las Vegas) and will release them along with KBVU (Boulder City), KINS (Creech AFB), several of the target complexes in the Nellis Gunnery Range and as a bonus (if you promise you can keep a secret) I'll include both Tonopah Test Airfield (initial home of the F-117) and the airfield at Groom Lake (Area 51 / Dreamland). This second group of airports will be released as an upgrade to the first package.I was stationed at Nellis AFB for 4 years and flew numerous mission over the Nellis Range Complex so I am very familiar with this area. So I think the complete package will include something of interest for all pilots, both civil and military."
July 1, 201312 yr He mentioned on the org sometime ago that he may release the hotels and landmarks as a freeware package. I wonder if he is still planning on this. Also I wonder what the timeframe of the landmark updates will be (ie weeks or months). I would much prefer to buy a complete package.
July 4, 201312 yr Include the strip with major casinos and I'll pay double. Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk 2 Ark -------------------------- I9 9900K @ 5ghz / 32GB G.Skill (Samsung B) / Aorus Master Mobo / EVGA GTX 2080Ti FTW 3
