  1. I made a quick tutorial video if anyone is on the fence and interested:
  2. This is weird. SU 11 works with GAIST for me. Of course, I'm not saying it's not the cause of CTD for others but maybe it's a result of some conflict between GAIST and some other addon perhaps? I haven't yet updated my Nvidia driver to the latest one released this week. Could it be that?
  3. Yes, this is becoming a big issue for many countries with the dollar becoming so strong at the moment. Hopefully developers realise this and will have a few additional sales. It would benefit both them (more selling more units) and consumers who are not residing in the US.
  4. Now I regret not having bought Accuseason in the last sale REX had. I own Bijan's Seasons and whilst it can look good in places, especially in the custom areas, I think Accuseason looks better overall. Unfortunately I also lose quite a few fps with Bijan's addon. Cheeky question, but any chance REX will be having an autumn sale on Accuseason? Having already bought Bijan's addon, I can't stomach paying full price twice. If there were a sale, it might convince me.
  5. Or is that because Hollywood has become a shadow of its former self 😝
  6. Okay, thanks. So this might explain why the wakes I saw were so small and less 'frothy'. When I flew across the English channel testing out the mod the waves were quite small so perhaps this impacted the visual size of the wakes. Edit: Thanks for this awesome mod. It really adds huge immersion to the sim world. The models are amazingly detailed.
  7. Does anyone have very small, barely visible wakes from the ships? The wakes I'm seeing don't look anything like the wakes in the screenshots on the download page of the mod on flightsim.to. I can barely see any wake, just a small line appearing even when up close. I can see smoke from the ships but I expected the wake to show more white foam and be bigger as per real life like the wake caused by the amphibian aircraft in the sim. It has me wondering if I installed the mod correctly? Do I have to add some visual effect file or something? I had deleted the old GAIST folder as indicated before installing but I didn't delete the 'Gaist US Lakes folder' as it didn't say to delete that one in the installation instructions. Should I delete it (in case this is causing the wakes to not display correctly)?
  8. So cool. I live near to Lake Geneva (Sion), and used to live in Montreux, Lausanne and Nyon for a number of years. Super exciting to see the old steamboats that are still used by the CGN ferry company. Can't wait to see these on the lake especially with how great the detail of WU 6 is for Switzerland.
  9. I'd also be happy to be a tester if it helps. I'm a big fan of your mod!
  10. I still have an old i7 920 @ 3.8 ghz which is a generation behind the i7 2600. I also have a 970 GTX. I get 30 fps running at 4k resolution in rural areas and if I use 'light' add-ons (such as some Carenado planes) I get around 20 fps in city areas. With the Aerosoft A320 I get around 15 fps at Geneva Airport but as soon as I take off, this jumps to 25. I have settings turned up quite high as well so I am sure I could get better in big city areas. One thing that does bring my system to its knees is heavy weather. I mostly avoid this in favour of high graphics settings. I even run with trees maxed and shadows on! But with buildings set to normal:) I keep meaning to upgrade to the 6700K and a nice 1080 GTX card but since installing P3D 3.3.5, I am quite content with the performance and how smooth and good looking it is. At this stage I think I will wait for Kaby Lake before I upgrade next. As I can only reach 3.8ghz these days stable, I am often envious of those with a 2600k who often can reach 4.5ghz. I think though the graphics card you use may have a considerable impact as well though. I can't advise on that combination.
  11. Great shots. Thanks for sharing.
  12. Excellent question and something I too have often wondered as to what the result would be at high altitude and or high speed. In Prepar3d, nothing much happens other than a 'your flaps have been damage due to excess speed' warning. I have often wondered if the strength of the flaps would withhold the resulting force of drag if extended at high speed accidentally.
  13. Nice! I can see where my apartment is in the third picture...lol
  14. Lol...I have already googled and searched on YouTube for DTG Flight School to filter the past 24 hours to see who else might have post images or videos. So far only Mutley's Hangar! Darn this waiting
  15. Some parts look very nice such as the planes, and the atmospheric scattering and lighting. However, I think some quick wins could have been added like improved rain/snow shaders so we don't feel we are travelling at light speed, HD runway textures and not the pixelated default ones (could they not have got these off Orbx?), and an upgrade to the textures of the default airport buildings would really help. The airport buildings look dreadfully dreary and really show their age graphically. Coastline blending would have helped too. As it stands we have nice FTX Global textures, maybe new water (can't tell from the screenies) but where the two meet it looks pretty rough still.
  16. Your post is out of line and is written rather rudely as far as posts go. Its not up to you to define the strategy of DTG and how the CEO will feel. An informed opinion is one thing but conjecture and making predictions with no hard evidence is another. Martin and DTG are interacting with us as a community and all you are doing by writing like that is scaring them away from engaging with us. Even though you may want the best possible simulator to be published like we all do, we should also remain dignified and respectful to each other.
  17. That would be great Martin. Much appreciated.
  18. I agree it is a bit strange from a marketing point of view not to 'feed' more information/screenshots close to release in comparison to other products. Its not to say there is some negative reason behind this but I would like to see this product succeed the best it can and marketing is a big part of that. What might seem like a lack of a few screenshots and impatience on our behalf could mean less pre-orders/sales due to a lack of awareness by the market that the product exists (not just the sim market by the way). Even channels on youtube such as frooglesim tend to cover newly released information/screenshots in their weekly news videos. The point being that there is a cascade effect of information leading to essentially free promotion and this usually results in more sales. If you don't put much info out there to begin with, no matter how great your product is (especially if its niche), then you can't expect big sales to happen.
  19. Exactly. Stick with FSX for now and see what happens with DTFS and also the upcoming Flight School as a way of seeing how much they are improving (hopefully) the platform. Unless you have a lot of cash to spend, this would probably make the most sense in my opinion.
  20. Any chance of a few new screenshots? I find myself checking the facebook page and this thread each day like a kid waiting for Christmas
  21. I think many people would disagree with you, not all but many. And relatively, I don't think it would take that much time to program versus how nice it would look. Eye candy is about immersion for a lot of people as well you know, a pretty important part of the experience especially if they want to attract new and younger simmers. Anyway, as this is a Q&A for Martin to answer, let's not debate our aesthetic preferences and let Martin respond.
  22. I second that idea/question. It gives purpose to the sim beyond our own imaginations of what flights we want to do. I imagine it would be easy enough to implement in the grand scheme of things. A sort of FS Passengers would be great. My questions are regarding the rain and snow effects. Will these be improved? Also would it be possible to add standing water with nice reflections to the runway and taxiways when it rains or after. This would be really cool, sort of like what you see in GTA V or racing sims on the road surfaces. I know that this is a world simulator and I know its not GTA in terms of scale (i.e. its incredibly bigger) but this would be so much more immersive to see lighting and reflections on standing water in an airport environment especially compared to the basic overly reflective wet tarmac we see currently in FSX.
  23. +1 (and maybe a quick video from your phone  ) I just pre-ordered yesterday on Steam. Thought I may as well to get the 3rd aircraft early. I was using Prepar3d last night and thought to myself how for 15 euros to get better lighting and other fancy graphical/engine updates as well as FTX GLOBAL and 3 aircraft is actually a really good deal. Here in Switzerland that wouldn't buy you two pints of lager. It seems the release date is 26th April if the pre-order deadline is April 25th.
