July 3, 201312 yr Hi Paul, I'm slowly re-installing FSX etc., etc. After installing UT2, I have a txt file titled, "what you need", with instructions for mip mapping UT2 textures. It appears to need a "ut2 MIpMap.bat file" which I don't have. Is this your work? It seems familiar to me. I'd really like the bat file if I could possibly have it, as it would save wading through all the individual folders. July 3, 201312 yr Not mine, I'm afraid, Jim. Can you post the "what you need" txt file? We can work out what's needed from that. I'll be gone for a few hours this afternoon, so if anyone else wants to help Jim to make an ImageTool bat file - please jump in. i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
July 3, 201312 yr Author Sorry, Paul. I thought it might just have your helpful look about it! I don't know why I've got the instructions without the accompaning file. I do have bat files for bmp-bmp, and bmp-dds, which I can use with image tool, folder by folder, but these instructions imply a bat file which can work through a whole series of folders automatically. Here are the contents; What you need 1. An original and up to date version of Ultimate Traffic 2 for FSX 2. Notepad++ 3. Imagetool (can be found in the FSX SDK folders) and the batch file - Available HERE How to do it 1. Navigate to your ...Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\UT2 Aircraft folder 2. Make a backup copy of your UT2 Aircraft folder 3. Open the UT2 MipMap.bat file, included in the download above (see 3.), with Notepad++ 4. Hit Ctrl+F on your keyboard and select the tab 'replace' in Notepad++ 5. Paste the following text into the 'Find What:' space - C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\UT2 Aircraft 6. Navigate to your ...Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\UT2 Aircraft folder 7. In the address bar at the top of the finder window that you have open, right click on the UT2 Aircraft folder name and select 'copy address as text' 8. Paste this text (the path to YOUR UT2 Aircraft folder) into the 'Replace With:' space in Notepad++ 9. Click 'Replace All'10. If you've done this right, it should have pasted the local path on your computer for the UT2 Aircraft folder into the batch file.11. Save the batch file, make sure the file format is .bat12. Double Click the UT2 MipMap.bat file and go and make a coffee, this will take 10-20 minutes.13. When the batch file has completed, all of your UT2 external textures will have been mipmapped14. Rejoice and jump for joy Asus Rog Maximus VIII Hero, i9-10900k 4.8GHZ, Corsair H100 cooler, 32GB Corsair Vengeance 2666, RTX3090 20GB, Win10 HP 64-bit, 3 Monitors "19-22-19", Reverb G2 Headset.
July 3, 201312 yr The batch file is made by Matt Fox, (Hope I have his name correct...been a while since I downloaded it ) if you go to the UT2 forum, and do a search, you should find it to download. It is only available on the UT2 Forum. July 17, 201312 yr Does mip-mapping the UT2 textures increase performance or just reduce shimmer? Since the traffic seems to bog things down, anything I can do to squeeze more frames would be great. Thanks Alex M. AMD 5830X Nvidia RTX 3060 Win 11
July 17, 201312 yr Author Hi Alex, I'm afraid I've seen no difference in fps with mipmapping UT2 aircraft. Since I went over to DX10, I simply convert all the .bmps I can get my hands on to .dds, adding alphas and mipmapping as I go. In my recent re-install of FSX, frame rates were much higher before I installed UT2, so there is a noticeable difference. I run UT2 at 30%, and I personally am happy with the amount of AI around me. Since adopting DX10 my sim is smooth as silk. I'm happy and no longer bother with fps.
