July 23, 201312 yr Hello guys something worrying popped up in fsx and Im confused... Firstly I run a dell 7520 laptop with ATI RADEON HD 7730M card on an i5 3210M 2.5 - 3.1 ghz processorAfter updating my ATI drivers to the latest 13.4 version, I noticed everything 2D looks like, well....crap. The worst parts are where there is writing like the MCP and the ND switches (range, terr, vor, etc) see below in the picture. Ive tried looking around but its all Nvidia this and GTX that so please help...? Also my amd GPU is controlled by switchable graphics which I have set to use high performance (the ATI Card is taking on fsx NOT the intel graphics 4000 even though intel still shows up in options) I tried setting Catalyst control center to control Anti Aliasing which fixes the jagged writing the problem but makes fsx blurry. Is this truly a sign that the 2D age is over? or is there a fix? EDIT: the picture at night is what the 2D cockpit used to look like Flying Tigers Group
July 23, 201312 yr The screen at the bottom looks like the virtual cockpit (VC) and the screen at the top looks like the 2d cockpit. This is the way they look..... and AA will not fix the 2d cockpit edges. Bert
July 23, 201312 yr Author Trust me they're both showing the same panel, except now one has jagged edges... Any fixes? Flying Tigers Group
July 23, 201312 yr Have you tried adjusting the settings within FSX? Look under the options then Display, make sure your Grsphics Card us selected and try a different resolution for the display. Tony Simpson FLYING FROM EGKK, The worlds busiest single runway Airport.

July 23, 201312 yr No way.. what is that sticker above the PFD doing in the second picture - not there on the first.. That's the ETOPS placard that will or will not be shown depending on the selected equipment options in the AIRCRAFT configuration menu. If ETOPS is enabled, the placard will be present in the 2D panel as well as in the VC, and as such can't be used to distinguish between the two cockpit modes.

Your graphics card isn't bothered whether it's rendering a 2D panel or a VC view. Firstly check in fsx.cfg to see if FSX really is using your ATI card. Delete any references to the Intel card. Secondly the newer image appears to be stretched laterally, as if the aspect ratio has changed. The old image looks perfectly square. Have you changed the screen settings by mistake (or did FSX reset them somehow)? You may simply be running at a much lower resolution than before. No way.. what is that sticker above the PFD doing in the second picture - not there on the first.. That sticker appears in 2D and VC if you have ETOPS options set in your livery. The OP has used a different livery for each image, and so different options. Doubting the OP isn't helping him.

Posting two very different screenshots (day and night, different version) does not exactly help with troubleshooting either. I'll step out and let you guys solve it.. Bert

The secon pic was with a different plane much earlier before the problem. Its the only pic of the 2D cockpit I have... Also yea I believe it may be aspect ratio related.. How do I change it back? I tried resetting a new cfg but didnt work Flying Tigers Group
July 23, 201312 yr You can change the resolution (and colour depth) in FSX settings (display page) and save. On my PC this resolution is the same as that set in the Catalyst Control Center. Also make sure the line WideViewAspect=True appears in the [DISPLAY] section of fsx.cfg. It may not be part of the problem but it's the correct setting for a wide screen monitor

July 24, 201312 yr In the [GRAPHICS] section of fsx.cfg the line TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD=1024 will reappear if you change graphic settings within FSX. Edit fsx.cfg so the number 1024 is replaced by 4096 every time you make a setting change within FSX. Finally make sure you have high resolution VC selected in the display settings.
