Short Routes?

Featured Replies

Hey guys I'm looking for some short routes in the MD-11; really nothing more than 2-3 hours... any help would be appreciated! Thanks.

Robert

I would recommend KSEA - KSFO - - KPDX - KDEN - - KEWR - KORD.

Flightaware?

I was just about to say that...

Robert,

There are a ton of shorter MD11 routes in the cargo world.  Look for FDX or UPS MD11 flights and you'll find some.

Kyle, is there a way of extracting the waypoints in a route there(Flightaware), to compile a FP? E.g. PANC-RJAA? Thanks.

Click on the flight (such as FDX440 OAK-MEM). The route will be displayed on the right (SLNT7 LIN JSICA ILC KD48Q KK42A LIT TAMMY4).

What I end up doing is hand entering it the first time and just saving it via the FMC.  I figure creating a native file from the FMC itself mitigates externalities interfering (however unlikely they may be.)

I do however use SimRoutes to generate FPs to be imported into AS2012.  That feature does include a PMDG format for the downloaded plan file.  The only issue is that it may require different Lat/Lon formats compared to what FlightAware uses (you can see required formats at the bottom):

I'm not sure if it downloads the latest NATs, to be honest, particularly based on the fact that many of the STARs for various airports are either not present, or out of date.  In any case, you can manually enter them using the formats at the bottom.

I thought I'd have to do that.

I normally use EFB and its function to source a route via RouteFinder, but when I tried to replicate Delta's flights 757-200 KLAS-KATL  and the A330-200 KATL-EGCC I flew on last week, RF's waypoints did not look anything like Flightaware's. Hence the question to you.

Alternatively, I also use FSC 9.1 if flying the Airbus Extended. But on checking the Flightaware routings, they were all spot-on matching the snapshots of the flightplan from the seat IFE screen.
