October 27, 200421 yr Most of the water in FS blows. I think we can all agree on that. How is the FS Water program by Flight1??Been looking at it for a while and would appreciate your views/comments/opinions/etc...Thx! October 27, 200421 yr I own it and I really like it. Of course, textures are a matter of personal preference. Different bodies of water look very different at different times of the year. FS Water does a good job of balancing that and making water look good anywhere and from any altitude. I especially like the wave effects. They looks very good, especially at night. (screenshots just don't capture this). ------------------------- Craig from KBUF
October 27, 200421 yr Yes it is good. The only thing that I can complain about is the lack of response when I asked about an update that the author was doing. I even did some testing for him on the update but had to stop because of a machine failure.I posted at F1 forum "Products", in reply to their release notice, but it has been totally ignored, perhaps I put question in the wrong placehttp://www.reality-xp.com/community/nr/rsc...customer.jpg:-( Anthony
October 27, 200421 yr Thx for the comments guys.Does FS Water get rid of those wierd squares (where the water is a different shade) in the water when you get above a certain altitude?Thx again! October 27, 200421 yr I don't go very high, I seem to remember people saying that it still happens.Anthonyhttp://www.reality-xp.com/community/nr/rsc/rxp-customer.jpg
October 27, 200421 yr However, before you make a purchase, you could consider some of the freeware water replacements that are available here at Avsim. There are a couple of complete packages here that are very good, and easy to install, though some of them are a bit overdone. I don't own fswater, but from the look of it on the screenshots, I'd say that some of the freeware water looks better. Not that fswater is a ripoff, but it doesn't appear to be way ahead of freeware like some payware is.-
October 27, 200421 yr Waterzone is pretty good and freeware.Lee Lee H i9 13900KF 64GB Ram 24GB RTX 4090
October 27, 200421 yr Before you make a decision be aware that FSWater also contains an excellent set of sky textures which I appreciate even more that the water.Alex
October 27, 200421 yr Commercial Member I like it a lot - the sky in particular is really nice. Water is on par with some of the best freeware stuff and I think it looks really good in most cases. Ryan MaziarzFor fastest support, please submit a ticket at http://support.precisionmanuals.com

October 27, 200421 yr I use it all the time and I have added all sorts of freeware textures to the program.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
October 27, 200421 yr Hello, "the sky in particular is really nice. "I have fswater but, I don't see noticable difference on the sky color with newest freeware release.BestEric
October 27, 200421 yr Squares are still there, especially during dawn/dusk transitions. During daytime at high altitude, you will see a line in the distance (between 50 & 100 mi) where the custom water texture ends and the generic low res FS texture starts. It's a little funky, but I can accept the trade off considering how much improved the local water textures look at lower altitudes.Bruce
October 28, 200421 yr I don't even remember why I bought FSW, but it was very much on-the-spot decision. I found it have a nice balance between different water, since not all water are the same. But, for $15, the sky textures alone worth $10 of that!
