July 25, 201312 yr Very nice, do you have any other add-ons in your screenshots besides Aerosoft US Cities LA? July 25, 201312 yr Very nice, do you have any other add-ons in your screenshots besides Aerosoft US Cities LA? Thanks. Here is everything that you see in these pics :- 1. Aerosoft US Cities Los Angeles (it includes Catalina Island ) 2. OpusFSX (Weather... although the weather looks nice, it was realistically hazey and ATC were only allowing IFR). 3. Carenado PA28-180 Archer II (modified panel; RXP430, AP, Sound Pack, etc) 4. Very subtle ENB settings (Nick Needham's ENB settings).
July 25, 201312 yr Thanks! Really nice. I also have Aerosoft US Cities LA, however I restrict myself from flying there since my FPS is severly impacted due to a ton of addons I have for that area. I get about 11fps at KLAX. This is when using FSDT KLAX, Megascenery X Southern California, UTX, GEX, REX, UT2. Might be a bit of overkill and I might have to give up on some of the add-ons just to be able to fly without any sort of performance hit in this area. July 25, 201312 yr To be honest, I bought US Cities: Los Angeles last week, and unistalled it on the same day. :( I too had bad frames and lot's of stutters, as I flew over downtown LA. Today I decided to give it another try, only this time, I changed the "complexity setting" to "use less custom buildings and use more autogen", and I turned off road vehicles, which I had had at 18%. The excperience this time was SO much better. Over downdown LA I had a fluid, smooth 24 FPS. But I will actually use this add-on not so much for downtown LA any more, but for the huge other vast areas that it covers. I have a soft spot for the Van Nuys / North Valley / South Valley / Resida / West Burbank area, so fly over there a lot, and the residential areas look AMAZING with this add-on! ......... and with Complexity and Autogen settings both on 'very dense', I have 30 FPS solid. So in short, there is a lot to enjoy with this add-on, apart from downtown LA, where the performance does drop a bit.
July 26, 201312 yr Dave, which settings are you referring to, the built in FSX one or are you talking about some custom setting that comes with the add-on? If so I am willing to try and do the same. I read somewhere on aerosoft forum that there's a traffic bgl file that you can get rid of, to help improve performance. July 26, 201312 yr I love Cities X LA...doing touch & go's at John Wayne and Catalina is really nice. Thanks! Really nice. Your rig looks substantially better than mine...you may have to do some optimization. I have everything you have except FSDT LAX and get rock solid 25-30 over everywhere except downtown LA in most of my airplanes with scenery sliders full right, traffic sliders lowish and water set to 1.0 high. I had bad stutters passing over downtown in any aircraft including default. I removed the Los Angeles traffic .bgl file and that got the stutters down by half. I'm wondering if they've got some textures they need to optimize. Gregg Seipp "A good landing is when you can walk away from the airplane. July 26, 201312 yr Gregg what resolution do you run at? I run at 2560x1600 so maybe thats why? And I also have Megascenery X Socal installed, do you have AI traffic installed? I have UT2. So that adds to it as well. I haven't tried removing the los angeles traffic.bgl yet. But will try later. I have all my road, land, sea traffic sliders set to 10% in FSX, my water at low.2x ASUS ROG Maximus Hero XII ▪︎ Intel i9-10900K ▪︎ NVIDIA RTX 3090 FE ▪︎ 64GB Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro ▪︎ Windows 10 Pro (21H1) ▪︎ Samsung 970 EVO Pro 1TB NVME SSD (OS Drive) ▪︎ Samsung 860 EVO 2TB SATA SSD ▪︎ Seagate 4TB SATA HDD ▪︎ Corsair RMx 850W PSU

Yes, there is an external tool that comes with US Cities: LA, called the "Complexity Switch". It is listed in your START menu, under "Aerosoft" then "US Cities - Los Angeles". Made a BIG difference to my performance, switching it to the alternative mode, so give it a try!
July 26, 201312 yr Didn't realize that, I will give that a try and see how well it fixes my performance issues. Thanks! I have all my road, land, sea traffic sliders set to 10% in FSX, my water at low.2x I just installed a 42" HDTV so I'm running 1920x1280 (1080p)..quite a bit lower res. I have Megascenery X Socal as well and Ultimate Traffic 2 which I'm running at about 30% at the moment, though, I could bump it up. I turned off all sea traffic...eat's to much...cars is set to 13%. July 26, 201312 yr I think my resolution plays a big part on my slow performance issues. I have UT2 at 100% It could be a combination of all those things. It adds up. I may have to give up on some add ons in this area in order to gain back some FPS. July 26, 201312 yr I optimized the crap out of my system when I installed the TV. Still, with that CPU and video card...woh. You should have much better. I followed this thread... http://forum.avsim.net/topic/411015-the-dreaded-blurries/ ...for optimization. Setting FFTF to .13 helped a lot. I run textures at 2048 and LOD_Radius at 6.5. Also, I set my virtual memory to between 8-16 gig. Gregg Seipp "A good landing is when you can walk away from the airplane. A great landing is when you can reuse it." i9 64GB RAM, GTX-5090
