Just a quick question - with most types of games I'm used to them getting the best FPS in full screen mode. However, with FSX it's the opposite. Much better in windowed mode. Even with a brand new high end system my full screen FPS goes down to around ten, whilst hovering around 25-30 in windowed mode.

Is this how it is for most people? Or is it something I should look into?

I don't get a FPS change either way!

Like the OP, I get better performance in windowed mode.  This has been true for me for many years, over multiple systems, and multiple version of MSFS.

I saw many other posting on the topic.  Windowed vs full screen performance seems to vary between users.  

Maybe it's VSync working (and therefore limiting FPS) in full screen as opposed to Windowed mode.

Like the OP, I get better performance in windowed mode. 

same here, plus I love running other stuff while on a long flight.

Multimonitors I get far better performance in fullscreen mode. I only use full screen.
