Accidental delete....help!

Featured Replies

Trying to clean up my aircraft stable last night (too late at night to try to do such things), I accidentally highlighted many planes listed in alphabetical order in my SimObjects, Airplane folder.....and started to delete.  I thought I had targeted only one plane.  When I saw the gigs starting to disappear, I quickly cancelled the delete.  However, many excellent planes had gone to the recycle bin.

I did a restore on the recycle bin, but the restore wasn't complete by any means.  I then did a computer restore, and that helped a little bit.  I'm getting an initialization failure (used my Cessna 172 default for initialization), and many planes are missing in my aircraft choices within FSX.

I fortunately have saved on another drive, most, if not all, of my payware planes that have been deleted, but I need to RE-INSTALL the Cessna 172, the default Learjet, and others.  WHERE on the original FSX discs can I get these default planes so that I can reinstall them properly?

I have a lot of work to do today, but perhaps I can be more selective as to what I re-install.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Stan, just run repair FSX from the original disc

If I was you I'd just format and start again. Two reasons why

a ) you were tidying out the crap that you have accumalated so what better way to be rid

b ) its peace of mind that everything is installed correctly with no missing files etc

You'll have a nice spanking new install then thats fresh to go.

Then ghost it..... :Skull:

If you have access to another computer you could try install FSX into it and then just copy Simobject / Airplanes folder from it after installing SP1 & SP2 service packs, that should work just fine as long as you overwrite files when asked and shouldn't mess up anything like install repair could possibly do.

If by any chance you use Windows restore (or Windows) backup for that disk, you might want to rightclick on the Airplanes folder, select Properties and then select the Previous versions tab: if you are very lucky you might be able to restore the folder to a previous state. (On my PC this only works on the OS drive...)

Stan, which planes are you missing? I might be able to dropbox it for you. I've done the same several months back and someone was kind enough to do the same for me.

Thank you.

A Couple of default planes...the Cessna 172, and the Bombadier CRJ 700 defaults.
