I'd rather be Flying!...

Guys,

as far as I'm concerned, there is nothing now that can keep me away from starting XP10 and pick a good GA for a morning flight :-)

There was that problem, until yesterday, and I confess that most of the time, although the rest of the feel was good, the looks were great too,  and some models are really a charm to see and operate in XP10, kept me away from it.

After aplying that "TorqueFix" to all of my prop models ( non counter rotating) and observing the thrust and power figures with and without the fix applied, after making all sorts of tests that came to my mind, the truth is - just as much as some say FTX Global turned FSX / P3D into a new sim (and I agree...), this fix, which after all only used what was already there waiting to be used :-/, certainly made flying prop aircraft in XP10 a whole new and even  more rewarding ( I'd say perfect!) experience!

For me, as far as I'm concerned, this has done as much as all of the successive 10.x releases :-)

I can now increase my prop squad :-) and go flying... and as Scotchegg guessed, post a lot less too :-)!!!!

My dear chap I wouldn't want you to post any less! Your calm persistence and knowledgeable insights are part of the reason you now have the torque fix.

Now if you could spend some time persuading LR to improve the visuals...

I will apply the new fix when I return from vaccation. Back to bush and GA flying!

And, with the help of Dan Klaue, who is after all the author behind those excellent Carenados for X-Plane, the myiriad of combinations for use of this parameter with other flight and engine model parameters is just starting to show up!

It also raised an interest on me - learning SASL !

Dan was just playing with the torque parameter and the possible combinations with speed, AoA, etc... You can check more at this thread at the .org !

One additional aspect that now turns out even more evident is that, contrarily to what some might thought, X-Plane 10 takes into account the other effects, and the yaw they induce.

While the turn & slip instruments on most aircraft panels have less definition, and the use of 3d panels can always intriduce paralax errors (that's why ELITE's panels are 2d, and sometimes in P3D I revert to 2d panels for more precise operations, specially under IFR...). But use the HUD view and it's slip cue and you'll easily see the "prop effects on yaw" :-)

Beware that the introduction of this tweak has to be coupled with modifications to the aircraft control geometry - trim tabs - eventually engina or fin cant / incidences introduced to overcome the roll due to torque effects that are overdone at the default 1.00 value.

All good news!!!! Let's learn to profit from it, and, as Brett also points out at the .org, let's try to be parcimonious with our changes to the default 1.00 value...

Great news jcomm

Now that mr Torky  has been found and incarcerated :good: plus the good news about the coming SAAB, I will definitely hold short of rw18 before heading to the other side (p3d). Hopefully these news will keep me away.

Come on LR, give us some hope pleeeeeease!   :Praying:
