Airport Enhancement Services

Featured Replies

So AES works on around 500 airports and for 10% of those you have to pay nothing

Jeroen, no offense, but AES works on 240 FSX airports, so it's hardly 'around 500' and so hardly does these 50 (56 to be exact) make 10%.

Which, anyway, seems not important for the OP.

So coming back directly to Jerad's question:

Hey guys, Is it possible to use AES at airports that don't have scenery? Or at just a default airport?

Jerad, AES and GSX, though both being airport ground service enhancements, are quite different products.

Currently AES gives you more options than GSX, like e.g. animated jetways, cleaning services, de-icing, or the above mentioned wet runway.

But on the other hand GSX, as mentioned by others, is meant to work everywhere, be it a default or addon airport.

However with GSX jetways will operate at default airports only, using the ctrl+j combo, and they will be as (im)perfect as the default operation can be.

Addon airports most usually (though not always) have custom jetways, and those will remain inoperative.

Since your question suggests you intend to request default airports operation, AES is not for you.

the OP's intention probably has never been to start another AES ./. GSX argument.

I can't seen any in this thread (fortunately).

thanks, so does GSX bring the stairs over if your not parked at a jetway?

Yes.

Btw, there's a free demo that works at a few default and every FSDT airport, so you can check it out and see if you like it.

Just to be precise: it's not that jetways with GSX will work only at default airports, they will work with any airport, default or 3rd party, that features jetways made according to the FSX SDK so, every FSDT airport (and they work with GSX without having to purchase it), but also airports from Flightbeam, UK2000, Wingcreation and the larger airports from Orbx. Flightbeam airports are also free to use with GSX.

Jetways with GSX will not work if the developer hasn't animated them OR if the animation is controlled using a non standard method, such using COM frequencies, which was popular in FS9.
