August 23, 201312 yr On most jet airliners, old and new, if you apply full thrust reversers, should the plane roll backwards? Most of my FSX planes do not btw.
August 23, 201312 yr Many will, just depends if the thrust is enough to overcome the inertia. I doubt it's documented if it should move or not, as its not good practise to use reverse when stopped or at low speed due to FOD. But you can certainly watch vids of C17's doing it and obviously the MD80 does it, or used to at least to powerback from the gate I think. You can google that. -Iain Watson-
August 23, 201312 yr I think most jets will roll backwards in rw with reversers. The NGX does in FS. But I think it is prohibited in rw as the engines can ingest debree and maybe surge (?). The MD-8x has engines quite high up, maybe that's why it is allowed.
August 23, 201312 yr I've been prohibited from "trying it" at every company I've worked, but.... Brendan R, KDXR PHNL KJFK Type rated: SF34 / DH8 (Q400) / DC9 717 MD-88/ B767 (CFI/II/MEI/ATP) Majestic Software Q400 Beta Team / Pilot Consultant / Twitter @violinvelocity
August 23, 201312 yr Commercial Member At least B737-200 can do that, the crew of Air Florida Flight 90 used reverse thrust to push back which proved to be a bad decision as it was very icy weather.
