August 24, 201312 yr I use FSNavigator to export flight plans to FS9. The general process when I fly longer flights is: Create plan Export to FS9 Let the sim fly the flightplan until just before the BOD Load up plan and allow ATC to bring me in More than half the time, FS9 hangs when I go to load up the plan via the ATC communication screen (tilda key). Luckily I use the save flight feature and can always go back, but it entails killing the sim, restarting, choosing the plan again (which always works this time) and continuing on. It's become somewhat annoying as FS isn't too quick to restart. Is anyone aware of a fix or a work around? Thanks Chris
August 24, 201312 yr Is anyone aware of a fix or a work around? It isn't really a problem with FS Navigator's plans, this can happen when you load any flight plan. The solution is to hold the mouse down firmly for a moment at each stage of clicking "OK". John My co-pilot's name is Sid and he's a star! http://www.adventure-unlimited.org
August 24, 201312 yr Author Why don't you load the flightplan before you takeoff ? Peter On my longer flights I dont sit in front of the pc, I let the autopilot handle it. So if I open the plan and walk away from the sim it will cancel the plan anyways because no one will answer ATC. Once I commit to the rest of the flight - that's when I open the plan. Now that I'm typing my response I'm realizing that I could proabaly load the plan like you say - just not contact ATC until I'm ready. Something to try! John Thanks - I'll give this a try!
August 24, 201312 yr After you have reached cruise altitude, and get handed to the next ATC controller, acknowledge, but dont contact the next centre. You can re-establish contact at any point in the flight you like. Peter Schluter

August 25, 201312 yr No ATC will not cancel your plan. However! You could save yourself a lot of grief if you do what I do. Not use ATC at all. FSNav is all i need.Hassle free flying. If you must use ATC then as other posters have said simply refuse to contact centres until nearing destination. This way no need to sit in front of your pc for hours. Andy
August 25, 201312 yr And ATC wont cancel the plan? No, as the poster with probably the best forum name has advised. However, you should ideally stop contacting centres after reaching cruise alt, and recontact before descending. If you recontact during the descent for example they will tell you to climb back to cruise alt first. I rerely use default atc , have a look at Proflight Emulator.....much better. That is what I use Peter Schluter

August 25, 201312 yr What is it that you like about PFE? Regional world accents for airports/ai aircraft. So yes you will hear an Air France AI pilot speak with a French accent, and a Spanish ATC reply with a Spanish one. You can set the flightplan up so ATC will instruct you to be at a certain waypoint at a certain altitude. You can choose to have a vectored takeoff, or a takeoff where you fly a SID until a waypoint or altitude of your choice. You can choose between a vetored to finals arrival, or an arrival where after a certain waypoint you told to fly the remainder of the approach yourself (STAR/Approach procedure). They dont cancell your flightplan ....ever! Peter Schluter
August 26, 201312 yr Author That's cool.... As trivial as it may seem, the correct accents would be a very nice touch. I'm going to look into it. John just FYI John, this has worked for me on my last two flights. Thanks.
