August 25, 201312 yr Does anyone else suffer from texture "banding" on sky/water etc? Here is a shot from a recent flight over water, and you can see very noticeable bands of colour, it's more apparent normally in sky and water. Is there some setting I can tweak to reduce this at all? Thanks! EDIT - my sim doesn't look this bad, it's a quick JPEG crop in ms paint
August 25, 201312 yr To be honest, can't see squat. Have no clue what the outlined area is suppose to be. Looks like ocean area if I'd take a guess.
August 25, 201312 yr Author Hmmm bad shot I guess. It's very noticeable a lot of the time. Will try taking a better example tomorrow
August 25, 201312 yr Banding is an unfortunate by product of digital imaging. It's made worse or better depending upon the quality of your monitor and I suspect to a lesser degree with the GPU settings. It will also be more discernable with low light scenarios such as dawn and dusk, and when you have a gradual change of tone across an even colour. August 25, 201312 yr Commercial Member Make sure your video settings in FSX are set to 32 bit color (that's the "x32" at the end of the resolution number in the settings). 16 bit color can cause really bad banding. If it's not that then it's just the FSX engine being the FSX engine. It's 7 years old... Ryan MaziarzFor fastest support, please submit a ticket at http://support.precisionmanuals.com
August 25, 201312 yr Make it a day shot. Why oh why when someone posts a screenie showing a problem, it is a night shot. Anymore trips to "SpecSavers" I will get my own car park. :p0503: System: MSFS2024, ASUS Rog Stryx Z790-A, Intel i9-14900KF, Asus ROG Ryujin III 360 , Asus Hyperion Case,Rog Stryx 4090 OC, Samsung 970 EVO M.2 SSD, 1Tb Samsung 860 EVO SSD,64Gb G Skill Memory, Asus Aura 1200W Gold PSU,Win 11 ,LG C4 48" 4K OLED Screen., Airbus TCA Full Kit, Stream Deck XL. August 26, 201312 yr FSWC (freeware) can sometimes be used to alleviate the banding problems in the water to some extent. I don't know of anything to help the problem as far as the sky is concerned. It's a pity, because dusk/dawn are my favourite times to fly.
