August 30, 201312 yr Hello owners of the Dash 7 from Majestic Software. If you are experiencing low external engine volume on a Windows based operating system, please follow the following instructions to fix this issue............ Right click on the speaker icon on the windows tray, (usually bottom right hand corner of screen) Select playback device. Select your playback device in the device menu. Press "Properties" Navigate to the "Enhancements" tab. Tick the check box on "Loudness Equalization" The above instructions should fix the sound issues that some people are experiencing with this software. Hope this helps................... August 30, 201312 yr Hello owners of the Dash 7 from Majestic Software. Did they ever do a Dash 7? Zicheng Cai
August 30, 201312 yr No he means the Dash 8. That 'fix' really doesn't fix anything though. It's just applying a loudness curve effect to the audio card, which boosts low and high frequencies. It does not increase volume; just low and high frequencies. Eg... Buy whatever works for people!
August 30, 201312 yr Hi Charles, Dave's correct. The 'loudness' simply increases the low end frequencies, especially useful when the volume is turned down on playback. But if it has helped you, then great. August 30, 201312 yr Charles, that's good, but can you clarify which issue you mean? Do you mean just the fact that the external engine sounds are a little quieter than in most models? ..... because turning on that Loudness Equalization feature won't change the relative volume of the Dash 8's external engine sounds, it really just makes all sound that comes out of your PC's sound card heavier is bass and treble frequencies. So it will affect the VC sounds just as much as the external view sounds. And these loudness curve effects can cause a lot of listening fatigue. If you like this preference then that's good, but it really isn't a 'fix' specific to the Majestic Dash 8.
August 30, 201312 yr A fix for the rumbling and thudding sounds after selecting the Dash 8 in the startup select screen would be nice also. August 30, 201312 yr Author As far as I am aware, the Dash 8 use's DSP effects which are not tied to FSX. For some people the volume of the engines is so low that they are barely audible in external view. Changing the settings as I advised at the top of this post, does make the engines sound very much louder in external view. I have not noticed any fatiguing consequences on my ears. I never claimed that this was a specific fix to the Dash 8 software, I am sorry if I gave that impression. Charles

August 30, 201312 yr Charles, Good on you. This "fixed", "repaired", "enhanced", "corrected","made much better", et al the number one gripe I had about the Q-400. It now is functioning as it should for me. How long has the airplane been out? And no one else has been able to give me a solution to my problem. Great kudos to you, sir. August 30, 201312 yr Author Hello IFR7700 I am really pleased that you can confirm what I discovered! I believe the software was released in April 2013. I bought it a couple of days ago my only gripe was the lack of exterior sound. Charles
