EVGA GTX770

Featured Replies

Hello!

I'm thinking about change my actual GTX480, in cloudy conditions it is very low...

I'm thinking about the EVGA GTX770. The 780 is too expensive. The main use will be FSX, I usually don't play other games...

Is a good choice?

I have heard nothing but good things about the GTX770... I would probably shoot for 4GB card but that also depends on resolution you will be running and the potential for multiple screens.

The 770 would be more than enough for FSX and that set up... 3gb or 4gb would be just fine... Good luck, and anyone please feel free to correct me if I am wrong...

Last week I moved from a Matrix GTX 580 Platinum to an MSI GTX 770 OC and have seen marginal increases in FSX.I didn't buy it for FSX so I wasn't expecting much at all. FSX is smoother and maybe a couple FPS increase, but nothing night and day. Worth it? I'd say yes as I sold my 580 for $200 and got the 770 for $370. FSX now runs my FSAA (8xSQ) and 8x SGAA with alot less effort than the 580.

In BF3 though, wow!!... 50-60% increase..  Smokin', bring on BF4.

Good news Dave... I am looking forward to BF4...! Hopefully see you on the battlefield as long as you do not try to steal my dog tags.... ;) lol

Jose,

If you decide to go with the GTX770, please post your results. I am also running the GTX480 and have been thinking about upgrading my video card.

Ok! I have good performance with the 480 but in cloudy conditions with REX HD it is slowly...

What's the best option? The EVGA GTX780 SC with the ACX cooler? Or the other version?

Please help. It is better to go for a 4GB card? Most of the 770 cards are 2GB. Is enough?

On the subject of GPU memory (and speed), which is better (for FSX and generally)?

  • 770 with 4Gb OC to > 1000 MHz (e.g. 1150 MHz)
  • 780 with 3Gb OC to < 1000 MHz (e.g. 900 MHz)

i7-8086k OC @ 5GHz, 64Gb RAM,
GTX 1080ti 11Gb GPU, HP Reverb G2, Win10 Pro 64-bit
Saitek Combat Rudder Pedals, Saitek X52 Pro

2gb is enough never go beyond that.

Buying a superclock acx gtx 770 the next day or the day after tmr :) Finger cross!
The evga gtx 770 sc acx come @ 1111mhz. Heard nothing but good thing for this card. Actually going for msi gaming but after thinking i will buy this card!

You can't compare GPU's just by looking at their clock speed & VRAM size:

GTX780:

Shader Processors: 2304

Memory Bus: 384bit

Texture Units: 192

Raster Ops: 48

GTX 770:

Shader Processors: 1536

Memory Bus: 256bit

Texture Units: 128

Raster Ops: 32

So yeah, the 780 is a fair bit faster ^_^

Any of the GTX770's will be around the same performance to each other. I simply bought the one that was cheapest that week (MSI Gaming) and overclocked it to around where the others are. It runs awesome and is still cool and quiet.
