Betas jittery with ezdok [SOLVED]

Featured Replies

Is there a way I can download an older version of opus? 3.19. The updates after this cause exca to be very jumpy and flickery. I turned off dhm but still a problem. When I jump to external view the whole screens jumps around...very annoying.

Disable the DHM on opus?

Yes you can't have two programs controlling the eye point at the same time so if you wish to use a third party package for DHM (but I would obviously recommend using OpusFSX) then disable Live Camera and the General DHM options in OpusFSX (enabled by default).

Thanks Cheryl.  I did that.  Can i go back and download a previous version?  When i shut down OPUS ezdok does jitter and shake.  I would love to use OPUS for cameras too but the camera setup is too confusing.  Why no tutorial on youtube?

We have link to download the previous version 3.30 at the bottom of the beta download box on our downloads page.

If you want to try our cameras then just run the ezdok function to restore the camera files to the FSX default.

We supple some default camera views for the 737 and Legacy and you can download others from our downloads page , just edit these to assign a key/button to display the view.

If you want to create cameras yourself you can do them for individual aircraft or groups of similar aircraft. The basic steps are quite simple ...

Load an appropriate aircraft within FSX.

Select Add a New Camera.

Make the required adjustments to the view.

Assign Aircraft Types To Your Camera View (can be a single aircraft or a group)

Save All Cameras.

N.B. If you have already created a similar view to the new one you want to create then select it using the Select Your Camera View button before the Add a New Camera step and the view will be cloned for you.

Thanks for your time and patience Cheryl.  However, I feel like we are not on the same page so to speak.  I enjoy the weather aspect of OPUS very much.  However, Im sorry but I prefer to get my camera views from EZDOK.

I want to use OPUS for weather and EZCA for camera views....I did this fine up until I deleted OPUS version 3.19 I believe.  Since then my FSX experience and enjoyment has decreased while using OPUS weather BECAUSE whatever you changed in the updates is causing EZDOK to be very jittery just after changing views.  When I shut down OPUS I do not have this problem with my EZDOK views.  AND it is not a matter of simply turning off live camera and DHM effects.  I have done that to no avail.

Again, I ask...may I somehow download version 3.19 (this version caused no problems with EZDOK).

Please read the Announcements on our official support forum then you would not have these problems. Download and install the latest Beta, then turn OFF the Live Camera Control, Live Camera, and each of the General DHM options. Then Opus will NOT be adjusting ANY camera eye points.

Stephen

The latest beta is 3.31.4 I believe.

Hi Philip

We are on the same page, I was just trying to explain that the cameras are easy to set up since you said you would love to try them.

As I have already said we only have a link to the previous version 3.30 at the bottom of the beta download box on our downloads page, we don't have any other versions available.

Cheryl

I too had the same problem as OP and it was to do with the DHM being enabled by default which i disabled by the menu bar even though all options were turned off in main OPUS window config for cameras ( only use weather). This would always come back after restarting. I've since installed a more recent beta and issue appears to be solved : )

Kind Regards

Simon.

See Announcements in our 'official' support forum, these fixes are all announced there along with news of the latest beta enhancements and Coming Soon.

If you have Live Camera disabled then the General DHM options are enabled by default, of course once you disable them and your configuration is saved and they will remain off.

Chipping in here, I've had Opus for quite a while now and absolutely love it.

Thing is, I've never tried the Live Camera function, being something of a dyed in the wool Ezdok kind of a guy :-)

Is there a definitive YouTube movie, or similar that shows how to set this thing up and, maybe more importantly, how all the effects look?

Didn't buy Opus for that purpose, but would like to make the Ezdok comparison.

There is no comparison in my opinion, Opus wins hands down, and no video. But you may also see a performance boost when replacing EZCA.

The camera views are very easy to set up and the turbulence is both realistic and fully coordinated in real time by the LWE. But its up to you what you want to achieve in your sim.

You should just disable EZCA and get to grips with Live Camera (the other half of the realism effects, Live Weather and Live Camera are designed as a pair). There is a step by step guide to setting up a single VC view so just enable DHM and Bump Aircraft (all default settings and scales) and give it a go. Your system may or may not be up to the task. If it is you won't want to go back to the see saw motions depicted by others (never, ever, seen an aircraft behave in that fashion, but I know many RW pilots who would love turbulence to be like that). All the effects ARE real so I'm not interested in any discussions. They ARE genuin recorded effects, recorded on board light aircraft and B737-800s. Most users love the effects, some prefer the see saw rocking motion. Whatever you prefer is fine by me. I know I would not bother with the sim without both Live Weather and Live Camera with its RW DHM and Bump Aircraft. But if you prefer something else then that's fine no need for any discussion.

One other option of course you could disable EZCA, best remove it for the trial otherwise there will be conflict and very jerky motions, then enable the General DHM for VC views in the Opus Configure dialog. You must have Live Camera disabled to use the General DHM options. But at least you could get some idea how the turbulent motions are depicted on your system. You could start off disabling Bump Aircraft in the DHM dialog. So DHM head motions only. The enable Bump Aircraft and try that. A ny problems with your aircraft control then disable the 3DOF Bump Aircraft option, then you could increase the Delay factor to 1, 2, or higher etc.. Just make sure you have stopped EZCA and note you must have updated the weather to get any real time turbulence effects.
