FPS drop over oceans..
When this happened to me some time back i deleted my Shader/Shader10 files in AppData/Local/Microsoft/FSX. Start up FSX let it rebuild those files and it was back to normal.

FSX Fiber Accelerator?
If i was a Dev trying to communicate with people on here I would be feeling quite disapointed/frustrated. Those who don't do their research, don't read the manual or earlier posts on a topic then jump to wrong conclusions. All the work that goes into creating software for an aging FSX that is poorly written anyway. I think we should be appreciative that programs are still made for it and stop behaving like spoilt brats as some do on here with their demands (refering to the first several pages of topic). Happens everytime somethings released. Try the generous demo if it works great & have fun if not move on.

So, What Happened to AVSIM?
:friends: Hi everyone. Nice to see the site back up and the members.

Lost motivation to fly
I think this has been out a while now (at least few years). You might already have it installed. Can't remember what the changes over V1 were. I'm sure full PNW version at current spec is much improved over demo these days.

Lost motivation to fly
I've been neglecting FSX recently too and feeling somewhat guilty about it, although i know i should'nt, maybe its the money i've spent on it over the years : ) I might have lost the motivation to sim at this time but still keeping up to date with current news, releases etc. I've done some flights in last week though and enjoyed it (only four this year). But as mentioned Family commitments (young children) and all that comes with it can take away any free time. Still, nice to know its not only me going through these unmotivating times. Hopefully will get some more flight time in near future though. Its true though that all the set up and planning can be a bit of a turn off sometimes so my few flights this year have been GA such as A2A's 172 doing short flights, circuits. One day i will get VOXatc fired up again rather than being lazy with FSX atc ; )

Ivona Still the Best Voice Pack Choice?
Good question as I had to go remind myself how I corrected mine. Its via the minireader/voicesettings/exceptions options. IVONA are great quality voices. I have four myself but I do wish they could have a static effect option. I suppose flight Sim is not there priority. I also use Voxpop for pilot comms & IVONA for ATC. Tapatalk 4

How to get FSX display gauges on the second screen ?
For full screen. i just expand the screen to both via right click on main windows screen (Screen res adjust i think). In FSX bring up individual panels via shift & #. Then drag them over to 2nd screen. I dont seem to have any loss in performance & i dont have a super duper rig either : )

Betas jittery with ezdok [SOLVED]
I too had the same problem as OP and it was to do with the DHM being enabled by default which i disabled by the menu bar even though all options were turned off in main OPUS window config for cameras ( only use weather). This would always come back after restarting. I've since installed a more recent beta and issue appears to be solved : )

No Navdata folder in FSX
Thanks Cheryl i will do that : )

No Navdata folder in FSX
Thanks Cheryl I don't have a Navigraph folder in FSX folder but i do have a NavDataPro folder in there. Should i point it to there from Flight Plan Dialog? I assume otherwise its pointing to your Opus folder for data where a Navigraph folder resides or are they different data?
-
No Navdata folder in FSX
So it works then? I know where you mean about the default setting for the data in Opus menu. My Opus Navigraph folder is in Opus main folder (by default install) and as far as i know Opus works fine with a flight plan set up for data. I don't subscribe to Navigraph cycles though. Should i point Opus to Opus/Navigraph then as i don't have one in main FSX folder either. Can Opus please confirm?

The only true FSX tweak
New tweak found! This may not work and is very much dependent on [Permissions] tweak above (entering only 'doinghousechores' is sufficent). As usual your milage will vary. Again this entry.... [spouse] withwife=true Then.... [Multiplayer] enjoymyhobbywithme=1 Heres hoping....
-
The only true FSX tweak
If you have a Wife you are advised to enter [spouse] withwife=true Then further down below the [Trusted] section but must be above [pointofinterestsystem] you can add [Permissions] addonpurchaseallowedbydoinghousechores=1 This can free up more flight time by reducing conflict but may introduce the need to enter 'nagging=false' under the [sound] section thus also changing 'Sound_Fader to 0' for best results (Temporary setting only as may produce CTD's). Good luck.

This on-going problem with ezca and it's developer
I would find it hard to to sim without it. Clicking around the cockpit makes it so much easier especially with larger aircraft. I have Opus but prefer the EZCA software for views and effects. Not the easiest UI to work with though. Quite pricey but adds alot. Interesting to see what V2 will bring (if it ever gets released).

Aerosoft's Twin Otter X vs Extended
First flight yesterday. What a difference compared to previous version. For the price its a bargain. Like the interactive checklists. Had some issue with elevator trim & maintaining altitude but thats probably me being out of practice & abit dim. Messing up. Handles nice & great FPS. I always liked the X version but was definetly out of date. I just need more practice if i can find the time.

More attacks against OrbX by NickN over at Flight1
In a good way or bad way  What Nick needs to do now is get back into GEX and work to make it the best product out there and trounce the rival. Theres room for both products. Healthy competition. Offer us more than FTXGlobal does. Guess what....the consumer wins. ( I am a GEX user by the way )

Aerosoft's Twin Otter X vs Extended
Guys, just bought this ( with the nice little discount as a owner of the X version ) hav'nt installed yet but look forward to comparing the two. On the Aerosoft site theres a hotfix for a few issues since V1.03.
-
Aerosoft's Twin Otter X vs Extended
Exactly. Once you have tryed these aircraft from the likes of A2A its hard to settle for anything less in my opinion. Such is the quality and level of realism in the way they operate. I don't expect the TO Extended to match up to those offerings but it seems a good effort from what i have read and seen. Don't forget Its much cheaper too.

Aerosoft's Twin Otter X vs Extended
Its supposed to be one of those Aircraft that has character Howard : ) I have the older version and i understand that the extended version is a completely new build and more complex systems. I always enjoyed the X version so I might get the extended soon as its a great Aircraft. Apparently it performs well FPS despite the added complexity. Seems well received. By the way, head over to Aerosoft and read there forum about it : )

How are SceneryTech's landclasses?
My experience of Scenery Tech Europe is good along with Gex & UTX Europe. Does'nt cost much either. Thats the demo region for the upcoming LC packs isnt it?
-
Some GEX - FTX Global comparisons
Gex Europe & UTX Europe along with Scenery Tech Europe installed does work well i think. I like it. If a user flies all over the world (i don't) and at night (to use the FTX lights) then FTXGlobal might be worth it. But, yes each to there own & i think both products work well. Just comes down to your taste and use requirements.
