August 6, 201312 yr I'm talking about the prime issues with this software which is the high price tag, critical issues that keep being not fixed/added after a years time, and the nearly total lack of support / responds from dev, Mr. Marniftar. Btw, I had to post here, because they keep deleting posts in the flight1 forum. Any post that might deter customers from shedding 35$, then finding out the issues, is being deleted. Mr. Marniftar wants 35$ for this addon so you think this must be a "complete" product to begin with. Unfortunately, it's far from it. It starts with the fact that on the ezdok website it states latest version is 1.16. Then, you got to flight1 forum to suddenly discover a 1.17 patch ?!? Now, one of the main issues I noticed with ezca is that you can't use it without deleting the world cam entry from cameras.cfg each time you run ezca config. If you don't do that, you will always end up with it stuck in the cycle of cameras and getting the scenery corrupted because it's positioned somewhere that is never near the aircraft. Why in the world, couldn't this guy add a small option that allows you to leave world camera outside of the cycle? What's the damn logic behind that?? Then, there's TIR monopoly. He programmed the thing to work with a joystick hat or gamepad pov buttons. The problem is you cannot config ezca otherwise. It is hard coded that way and there's nothing you can do about it unless you shed another 150$ for a trackir, which is why I call it the TIR monopoly. Adding to those, is the lack of support from this guy. He's clearly stuck with the development of v2. So dude, if you're stuck, why leave 1.17 in the dark? Release a small patch that finally fixes the problems and be done with it! All these things I mentioned are so small, yet have a very big impact on the user experience. I mean, you put what you pay for against those things and it's upsetting. Those issues are so easy to fix it's pathetic. In fact, I'm sure he already fixed them in v2, but v2 is going to see the daylight in 2020 when earth shifts to mars. Speak your mind, I'd like to know how others cope with this. I've seen many angry folks posting on flight1 forums. Btw, it's almost inevitable to say that the situation is purely the outcome of monopolizing a certain aspect of the sim. If I knew better options than Ezca, I'd go to that. PS, I think the fault lays not only with the dev, but with flight1 as well. If they were to set an ultimatum for him to fix the software or have it removed, he probably would take notice and fix the issues right away. Either of them, clearly don't care, they count on you to buy the broken software for 35$ and shut your guts.
August 6, 201312 yr Opus. You have other options. Apart from the setup being a little hard at first, I have not heard too many complaints about it. Kinda glad you posted this though, as I am looking for something a little more stable for the DHM effects than Opus, which I can't, for months now get to play nice with TrackIR. August 6, 201312 yr Adi, I'll add a few points. Perhaps they explain some things while others get confirmed. Mind you that the EZCA, as every F1 sold soft, comes with a 30 day money back policy. So, within that time span, it should be possible to determine how severe the issues are. Then there's the dev. In my eyes, a very friendly person which, sometimes, may run into the language barrier when native English speakers approach him. And he's very busy but once said that 2.0 still is in the works. Well, I don't know his schedule, but I guess he's one of the many part-time devs in the business. I fully agree to the initial setup not being that easy. Did you already try the tutorial videos? They are linked in the F1 forums. http://www.simforums.com/forums/my-ezdok-setup-videos_topic38637.html Then, there's TIR monopoly. He programmed the thing to work with a joystick hat or gamepad pov buttons. The problem is you cannot config ezca otherwise. It is hard coded that way and there's nothing you can do about it unless you shed another 150$ for a trackir, which is why I call it the TIR monopoly. You sure? I do recall friends and fellow forum members using the soft without TIR. the fact that on the ezdok website it states latest version is 1.16. Then, you got to flight1 forum to suddenly discover a 1.17 patch ?!? Confirmed. That's a weird setup. I think there even is an extra beta version for the P3D folks. Perhaps the more experienced EZCA users can help with some of the current issues. So far, the outcome mostly has been positive. I personally like it very much, so I may be biased.
August 6, 201312 yr you can download freetrack, buy or build a three point hat (checkout Delanclip on ebay) including ps3 eyecam and use zcron and restartoncrash software to never look back ! google trackir alternative.... its pretty easy Mathew
August 6, 201312 yr Agree with OP. I have followed instructions and videos, so it's Opus now and forever for me. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD http://fs2crew.com/banners/Banner_FS2Crew_MJC_Supporter.png Wayne HART
August 6, 201312 yr There still is FaceTrackNoIR. http://facetracknoir.sourceforge.net/home/default.htm Works with a webcam. It's free. That's to avoid any TrackIR dependency and investment. Note. This is just for the head tracking part (if you're interested), not for the camera things and effects. But I guess it's a good alternative to TIR.
August 6, 201312 yr Author I've gone up and down with ezca. What works, works. It's the issues that sabotage the experience and above all lack of will to fix them for so many months since 1.17. In my eyes, it's just disrespect... like telling you "shut up and suffer". It really is funny how many angry folks posted at flight1. Some people, like youtube movie makers boosted sales on this product beyond any other addon in existence for fsx and yet, this is the outcome. About TIR, yes I heard about the alternatives and tried some. After all, I had to get TIR, which I did.. had to settle for a used unit. The sole TIR monopoly is a problem on it's own but it's slightly off the subject.
August 6, 201312 yr Only just set up Opus and gave up on EZCA all together yesterday, love Opus and I will not go back. Also, the $150 I've spent on TIR, was the best 150 I've ever spent since I've been into the FS. Jacek G. August 6, 201312 yr Author I heard about opus but never tried it. Btw, if using trackir, shouldn't be DHM effects turned off? I mean, your head natural movement is doing those once you use trackir.
August 6, 201312 yr A long time user of EZCA and love it. Gave up on TIR and never use it these days - now use EZCA with my yoke and joystick hat buttons to move the POV around the cockpit. For me a much better way of doing things than with TIR - too hard on the eyes. Bruceb Bruce Bartlett Frodo: "I wish none of this had happened." August 6, 201312 yr I have installed, configured, uninstalled , then reinstalled reconfigured and now finally uninstalled again. I kept suspecting it was interacting with other software i use in FSX and by disabling it the problem appeared to go away. Fact is, the wait for version 2 has taken so long that I kinda lost interest. In the end I use Accufeel and a little program called 3d Real Clock which gives me those shakes on the ground. True, I don't get the extra in flight camera views, but hey I can live with that for the time being.
August 6, 201312 yr Accufeel and Opus. Magic combination. And the support for Opus is second to none. Check out their unofficial support forum on this site http://forum.avsim.net/forum/577-the-opusfsx-forum/
August 6, 201312 yr I switched to Opus. It will be even better when the keyboard assignments for moving around the cockpit are implemented in the coming versions. At least Opus will listen and add features/change any issues quickly than having to wait an unknown amount of time for a v2.0
August 7, 201312 yr Speak your mind, I'd like to know how others cope with this. not a matter of 'coping', for me it works fine. i always used hotkeys for all my views so i never even knew about the cycling issue you described. similarly i mainly use the mouse and hat for looking around i guess i hadn't really thought about it as a problem.. i could see how these might be troublesome for specific configurations, lucky for me i guess lol.. anyway, cheers -andy crosby
August 7, 201312 yr Author That's a workaround but it's hard when you use more than one view in each category. :\
