What I tend to do with POSKY planes is sort a library search by date, and download the latest complete plane.

Then add the livery of choice.

That way you get the best updates, and also: gauges.

The VC certainly has gauges.

One way to find out. Download them and put them in the panel folder, then test.

Joe

Well... the advice I gave above generally ensures that you get the latest updates.

It works for me:

But of course how you get there, is entirely your choice

Your advice was greatly apreciated thanks..... I will take note of that next time when downloading Posky Planes for sure ;-)

Hi, Maribell,

To answer your question, the answer is "Yes", that package will install glass cockpit gauges in the VC of your Posky aircraft. Be sure to back up the panel.cfg file in the panel folder of your aircraft before overwriting that file as the installation requires.

Hi, WingZ,

I'm afraid it's not quite that simple. Maribell is using a model with a VC, but some of the newer models, including the Opensky models for FSX and the newer SkySpirit models do not have VCs. Also, some of the older textures for Opensky models do not work fully with the newer SkySpirit models. If the package designer did not include a model with VC, there won't be one no matter how new or old it is. Opensky models with a VC have "VC" in their names.

Opensky models and other packages are available at the site Maribell found, here:

http://poskyarchive.com/boeing/

Newer Skyspirit models, which have more ground vehicles and better lighting, can be found here:

http://ssp.cyber-ninja.jp/SSP2012-777V2Update.html

However the SkySpirit models do not have VCs.

Hope this helps!

Mike

Also, some of the older textures for Opensky models do not work fully with the newer SkySpirit models.

Not quite some, more like all of them. The reason is that although the majority of the textures are the same, the SkySpirit models incorporate new textures for the ground vehicles along with textures for the new night lighting system. You might be able to pull ground textures from the base pack, but not quite the case with the night textures. To update the Project Opensky models to the SkySpirit models would at the very least require the night textures to be painted by the original painter. That said, it's up to the original painter whether they want to make the update or not, which really isn't that difficult to do. Unfortunately, I'm not sure that many painters, if any, updated their paints aside from myself.

Assembling a working POSKY/SkySpirit B777 is a task I would not want to undertake myself.

Perhaps I didn't state my workaround clearly enough:

  • Download the latest possible version with VC of the model you want. Someone cleverly has done a huge amount of work to get it to that stage for you!
  • Then attempt to find, and add, your livery of choice. This is always going to be easier than trying to decipher the machine language that goes to make up all the many updated bits of a POSKY plane.

Attempting to update an older model is just too hard.

Get the new one (they exist complete, mercifully) and carry on from there.

This is my *extremely* hard-won experience, and I don't know how to say it more plainly than that!

The result is I have several beautiful liveries for the 777 in my sim, on a fabulous model of the plane.

I do not have anything workable to date for any POSKY A330 however, after the 10th iteration of VC/non-VC/Antenna/No antenna etc ad nauseam, I just walked away.

One way to find out. Download them and put them in the panel folder, then test.

Put them in the Guage folder as instructed on the Read Me txt B)  everything works great now thanks

After updating to Virtual Cockpit Panel SP2A I Realized that the MFD Was was taking place of the ECIAS1,and 2 and it looked kinda stupid but i did like that fact they Added a few more displays like the FMC (Although not Functional) and the GPS Display to accommodate for the Black displays on the Previous panel

So to keep those displays and get rid of the Multiple MFD i decided to edit the Panel.CFG a bit looks like the main cause was do to Multiple MFD entries Just under the VC1 section (Picture below)

Also had to change a couple of entries under the Windows Section of the Panel.CFG But all is well now, also got the glass guage covers in  B)

Just for your information, if you are interested,  you can equip the Opensky 777 with a

COMPLETE  (and FREE) 777 panel with Vc having  ALL the functions Lnav, Vnav, Flch , the Eicas synoptics (elec, hyd.,fuel...) , electronic checklist etc.

More details in this thread:

 http://forum.avsim.net/topic/413747-best-777-aircraftvc/#entry2717742

PS: This panel works only in FSX though (i had not seen that this thread was Fs9, sorry )

Guy

So to keep those displays and get rid of the Multiple MFD

There are clickspots in the last incarnation of this VC, which allow switching of the display.

You probably killed them by substituting the gauges!

Anyhow, sounds like you are having fun, so I'll leave you to it...
