November 21, 200421 yr I have the PSS A320 series and some IDFG A320 models.I have read a lot of posts here about merging IFDG with PSS.Pedro Oliveira's Version 10 A320 FDE contains separate updates for the PSS and IFDG planes.Do both work with the PSS panel, or is more tweaking required?
November 21, 200421 yr Well I have his airfiles and config installed, although I had to rename the Airfiles to the default names of the PSS Airfiles because I didn't feel like manually changing 53 cfg entries for all the repaints. Then I simply copied in the configuration details of his aircraft.cfg.I noticed two problems and having no experience in meddling with cfg parameters, someone else is going to help me out on this:1) The fuel layout has changed. Instead of 3 tanks (C,L,R) one suddenly has 5(two additional auxiliary tanks). 2) The comm radios aren't functioning. I tried to contact ground, listen to atis. Nothing. For a minute I assumed that perhaps FSUIPC had reset and the battery life extension was not working. But I checked it and it was set as I left it. So I restarted the flight... still no radio functionallity. I haven't checked out whether the eletrical systems also need fixing (with the low battery bug you'd be unable to receive communications or to retract the landing gear). So no, it's not a simple "install and fly" solution it seams. Whatever you do keep backups of the original files (I did, but I still want to give this a chance if someone can point me out what to do to get the radios working again and get rid of the auxiliary fuel tanks)
November 21, 200421 yr Well, having just started a flight in an IFDG 320 CFM matched with the PSS panel I'm going to answer my own question now.I've loaded the Pedro Oliveira FDE's into both the PSS and IFDG A320's, changing the .air file and the model directory over to the PSS naming convention (A320c/A320v.air and model.cfm/.iae respectively) Both planes appear and fly well - in fact the handling is definitely smoother than th default PSS FDE IMHO. However, EGT shows off the scale in red during the climb.Anyone know how to fix that?
November 21, 200421 yr It depends. If you want the correct EGT keep Pedro Airfile. If you want to keep EGT away from the red I believe that in the IFDG f
November 21, 200421 yr hmmmmthat sort of suggests there is something wrong with the PSS panel then........
November 21, 200421 yr sorry, didn't explain myself well, it's both the IFDG and the PSS A320's which show a over-the-limit EGT, although maybe they were doing that before, couldn't swear to that
November 21, 200421 yr yeah, I forget the details, but the pss and ifdg merge definitely has problems with the egt gauge. There used to be lot's of posts about it but I gesss most people finally figured it out. I'd suggest a search.billg
November 21, 200421 yr Yeah, +A320+egt is giving me 2400 results on the IFDG forum (and NB the same problem exists with the PSS A320 with the Version 10 update).I think I'll restart the procedure loading the V10 air file and selective bits of the .cfg file which don't have anything to do with the engines. If that doesn't work, give up,and stick to the A319 and A321
November 21, 200421 yr The EGT temperature problem was raised in a Portuguese Forum and Pedro show that the airfile gives the correct values for CFM engines. If that means that the PSS panel is wrong or that after the merge it has a problem I don't know.Jos
November 21, 200421 yr Just us the AirED program. go to line 540 and put these values inEGT scale factor=1.000000EGT Temp Limit=1470.000000EGT rate of change=0.300000That will fix the high EGT
November 21, 200421 yr excellent, will try that as otherwise Version 10 FDE seems fantastic, so solid feelinggood specific info, will try that
November 21, 200421 yr It's working for me.You just have to put those values in the CFM airfile. IAE have them already. So far everything looks good with Pedro v10 FDE:D
