Visualflights London scenery

Featured Replies

But for the time being you need to have some of the UK VFR stuff for it to work. But the scenery looks excellent.-

The website states that you DON'T need either the VFR or Terrain packages.....down towards the bottom of the page and just above the links to the Fairford Tatoo scenery. It all looks excellent, but I wonder; what does it do for your framerates??!!

I would like to know what the Frame Rates are like.

Sorry, it very clearly states that you do have to have the additional addons."IMPORTANT! You must have either VFR Terrain or VFR Photographic Scenery Vol 1 in order to use Visual Flight London. See How to obtain VFR Terrain or VFR Photographic Scenery for more information"That prices it out of my budget unfortuneatly for me.Happy Holidays,Ed GreenKCLThttp://www.panelshop.com/DEV.jpg

I guess something changed...back in November when this thread started, the website did state that these extra packages weren't needed!Honest!!It does look sweet though, eh??!!

The only additional item required is something that puts the Thames in the right place. Both VFR terrain and VFR photographic scenery do this. Or, if you wish, you can use some other scenery design tool to do this yourself.

Yes - that is a very good scenery.i'm working on a british waters update - to be used with british roads package i've done and Visualflights London scenery - nice combination - especially over london.you can see some screenshots here.http://www.fsrapid.com/dc/dcboard.php?az=s...esg_id=48&page=ray

I bought it...and I didn't realize I need the VFR Scenary.Yes.. you need it.... and it has a few problems. Don't know whose fault it is. They ought to have tested this more. Maybe the Christmas release may have pushed them to without testing it properly.. Landing at the London city airport, you may crash into an invisible object in the middle of the runway. or when taxing around. But I think, with VFR terrain and scenary, this city would look great.I am seriously thinking of getting the VFR scenary and terrain. and I am sure they'll fix the bugs with the London scenary soon.

Looks good. But... although they SAY the scenery objects are all in 3D, I'm far from sure if they really are. In an earlier thread I posted about Lago's claim to have "all 3D objects" in their sceneries, which plainly and simply is not true. The ONLY proof of the pudding is looking at this scenery with 3D Stereo glasses, which is an infallible means to distinguish sneaky 2D objects from TRUE 3D ones. But this time I won't be the silly punter who buys the package, finds out that it's not true 3D at all, emails the developer about it and receives their reply (like Lago's) that they "make add-ons for MSFS, not for any hardware you might happen to have". In other words: "Go boil your head, dear customer".But I would sure like another poor sod to find out. Please lemme know!Jaap Verduijn.

Why should LAGO support other peoples hardware? If you have an issue with a piece of their software using another party's hardware, LAGO isn't really obligated to help you at all. Unless the Lago product says, "works with 3D Stereo glasses" it really isn't their problem.Sad but true.I can't really complain to Ford if my double whipple supercharger doesn't work. :/

Greetings Shane!Oh, it doesn't matter if one uses eDimensional glasses or the simple red/blue ones (or even looks cross-eyed at FS in anaglyph mode). It's not particular to any specific add-on hardware: the Lago sceneries simply don't work with any video card that has stereo incorporated in its drivers, which since Radeon caught up with NVidia is now just about EVERY videocard. When Lago advertises "all houses are in 3D" but in fact they turn out to be "disguised 2D" like the runway lights MS put into FS, then I consider it misleading advertising. But at least MS is HONEST about it: they freely confirm that their runway lights are 2D. Lago, however, keep up their misleading advertising. There's one infallible way to see if scenery is in 3D, and that's by looking at it in 3D mode. It really is THAT simple. So the question right now is: are the buildings in the London scenery true 3D or are the "pulling a Lago" on us? Be well!Jaap Verduijn.

>So the question right now is: are the buildings in the London>scenery true 3D or are the "pulling a Lago" on us? >>Be well!>>Jaap Verduijn.I own the scenery, and every single building does seem to be modelled in 3D.

I have been using this scenery for nearly a month and like all of the other Visual Flight products it is excellent. To get acceptable frame rates from this scenery, you need at least a P4 2Ghz processor with 1gb of ram and a good video card.I am flying with this setup at 1600x1200x32@75hz, and from take off to about 1000 feet flying from EGLC heading West I'm getting about 9FPS with no traffic. Most sliders are on max with Aircraft reflections and ground scenery shadows off and visibility set to about 10 miles. If you switch to a helicopter and fly low to look at the buildings it is very flyable.I need a faster computer to do this software justice, but in the mean time I am well pleased.Damunn.
