I think that was scheduled after the 777 was released.

It might be worth the wait to let PMDG get some technical data for the scimitar winglets that are going to be certified soon for the NGs.  Currently a United 737 is being used for the tests.  A lot of airlines will probably opt for them for the sake of fuel savings.  In addition to having a -900ER model, a service pack or expansion pack with the new winglets will help reflect near future NGX operations.

Any news on the 737-900ER option?

I do understand PMDG are busy developing new sophisticated simulations, but while I did purchase the 777, I still prefer the 737NG. It's just the perfect aircraft for my flying, just the right balance between automation and manual switch-flippin'.

The 900ER is getting quite a regular sight in the US skies, but the 900 can't quite make the missions the ER can.

No news.  All news is posted and it is generally in the General section.

Agree, I've already requested a Delta 739 to mimic their fleet but it was pointed out to me that those are the -900ERs so I know they are aware of the changes in fleet composition.  Also, there is a chance they may model it with the NGXv2 but that has not been announced or even discussed that I am aware of from my outside seat.  I focused on the -700 for a long time, then ASA got me interested in the -900s and I can't wait to try a 900ER.
