I have to laugh a bit over the whining from the American audience :)The 25 Euro price is very reasonable spoken from a Norwegian point of view....Here in Norway 25 Euro will get you 60 cigarettes....or 4 pints of beer...or 20 liters of gasoline....or one day ride at the skicentre...or 40 lousy xmas lights...or 10 AA batteries....or one DVD movie...OR the RAS Spit :)I think I'm going for the Spit :)Johnny"I'LL BE BACK"[div align=center]http://www.avsim.com/hangar/fly/josve/zone.jpg ][/div

<>Well, Johnny, with all due respect, those are some of the reasons we like living here. I think we should leave the nationalistic slaps alone. Do YOU like it when YOUR prices rise? We don't and we shouldn't and expressing opinions on that subject is not "whining."Regards

I am going to buy the Spit in spite of the fact that I am not a "VC" sim flyer. I don't want to start yet another VC vs 2D panel flap...to each his own. But my main issue is that I don't like panning my views. The eye does NOT pan...it SNAPS to a new view...at least the FOCUS of the eys snaps... and in fact, a failure to understand that the eye cannot focus while in motion is one of the reasons that there continue to be way to many mid-air collisions in the RW. Pilots "pan" their traffic scans right past oncoming aircraft and come to grief as a result. But I am buying the Spit in spite of the VC-only configuration because there is no doubt in my mind that the flight dynamics are awesome and THAT is why I sim. Give me halfway decent scenery and AWESOME flight dynamics and I am a VERY happy camper.Regards,JimNow logging off to buy the thing!

Some here need to take an economics course and learn a little. Ever heard of Alan Greenspan? Our economy wasn't so bad prior to 9/11, so maybe you should consider what costs terrorism brought our country.Oh and how is this a commerical? It's a post that was sure to be posted by someone to inform users that the Spitfire was released! The initial poster is simply a beta tester, not the developer. This is common practice with all new add-ons, freeware AND payware. I appricieate these messages so I don't have to go to all the payware sites to find out if things are released. One visit to Avsim, as I do several times a day, and voila, and NOTAM about a new product! :)

Some may be complaining the price is too high. I can see their point I guess. The ATR from F1 is the same price! I'm not affected by this one since I bought the ATR last night and have no interest in old planes. I know the Spitfire is a classic, and I'm a WWII buff, but in the sim I prefer the non-military planes, no matter how new or old. RealAir has done a wonderful job on it though and it looks perfect. I have their Scout and it's a favorite of mine for sure.

.....As my real world log book becomes more and more dog eared each year, I still cannot convince the boys at Pat Bay Airport to lend me the keys for the Griffon Mk.XIV that hides in an unremarkable hangar over there. In lieu of that, I thank the craftspeople at RealAir for the opportunity of shaking hands with the Griffon Gods, all the while never leaving the safe, warm, fully insured confines of my den....nary a parachute in sight. What convincing spirit and soul. I have flown the Spitfire.Again and again and again....'til my heart's content.THIS.....is what it's all about....Thank-you, fellows...!!Thank-you.

A very very fast fully aerobatic bright red Ferrari of the skies! Believe me, if you are a person who loves flying for the sake of flying you will want to fly this aircraft. try it once and you will see what I mean. Pure Joy! Forget autopilots, forget SID's and STAR's for a while, forget ATC and FLY!!! FLY!!! FLY!!! Try it, you'll thank me I promise!CheersTimSpitfire Test Pilothttp://members.chello.nl/t.westnutt/realair.gif

>I have been speechless for a while before after installing>and initial check out of a new FS aircraft model on the block,>payware and freeware alike as well as in a positive or>negative sense but after installing RealAir's Spitfire this>afternoon i haven't said a word since.. atleast i don't think>so. Hey Jan,Heh, Heh, what can I say...Except, Told you so!I'm glad you are enjoying it, Praise from you is high praise indeed!CheersTimSpitfire test Pilothttp://members.chello.nl/t.westnutt/realair.gif

>I understand there is only one cockpit view, does the cockpit>behave like the VC cockpits in others, I use the trackIR to>look around in any VC cockpit, will it work in the same way.Anthony,Don't worry, I use Track IR myself and it works great with the Spitfire, The only problem is that you will not want to land again!CheersTimSpitfire Test Pilothttp://members.chello.nl/t.westnutt/realair.gif

Same for me. If I follow the comments on some European fora, most people are not amused (mildly put) seeing the price tag. I think, it is just business as usual. The old principle of "offer and demand" will regulate it anyway, in whatever direction.Michael

>I really like what I see. One question before I buy, and>please don't laugh at me.>>Is there an autopilot feature? Because what I like doing with>these kinds of aircraft is flying from point A to B on auto>then using ILS (which I believe I see in the cockpit!) to land>in bad weather. I've modded the CFS2 Wildcat to do this, but>the Spitfire looks really nice.Hello I'm not laughing, I was dumbstruck! Am I reading your message correctly? You want buy and fly probably the fastest most aerobatic most perfectly harmonised and superbly handling flying machine created by one the best if not the best flight dynamics genius working in FS today. All combined in the aircraft that has been voted the best aeroplane ever built by the TV station Discovery Wings and you want to fly it on autopilot! It takes all sorts I know but why exactly would you want to do that? There are far more suitable aeroplanes to fly around on autopilot on. This aircraft is for people that want to really FLY!!! CheersTimSpitfire test Pilothttp://members.chello.nl/t.westnutt/realair.gif

Hi James,Nice post, you share the same sentiments as me!Your comments much appreciated, Thanks.CheersTimSpitfire test Pilothttp://members.chello.nl/t.westnutt/realair.gif

What would be quite interesting, Rob, would be if all the people complaining about the price in US$ looked up the price of a few US published books, games, DVDs, etc. in Europe. We are spoiled somewhat in this hobby at times, because we do all pay the same price (plus or minus tax) for downloadable software. I used to be a wargamer a few moons ago, and got very fed up of seeing $20.00 on the back of a book from the publisher and
