November 29, 200421 yr Hi Tim, Thanks for sharing these good news. The waiting is finally over.Screenshots let appear that this product surely matches all my expectations and more I suppose.I already know that I won't regret this purchase.Hat off for RealAir team as usual.Best regards.Vincent Mellinger
November 29, 200421 yr Wow, this is great news, I've been waiting for this one...Too bad I have no cash now :(
November 29, 200421 yr Just out of curiousity- Could I ask why this a/c is being sold in Euros but the rest are in US dollar?
November 29, 200421 yr Roger that- thanks. This a/c looks fantastic like all the others they have made!
November 29, 200421 yr I really like what I see. One question before I buy, and please don't laugh at me.Is there an autopilot feature? Because what I like doing with these kinds of aircraft is flying from point A to B on auto then using ILS (which I believe I see in the cockpit!) to land in bad weather. I've modded the CFS2 Wildcat to do this, but the Spitfire looks really nice. Thanks
November 29, 200421 yr You can view the .pdf file over at the RealAir site. Lots of useful info before you buy.Cheers,Greg
November 29, 200421 yr Sitting with it smack bang in the middle of the screen, chasing its AI compatriots around the circuit at West Malling.Absolutely love this one. I'm not normally a massive fan of Griffon engined Spits (I prefer Merlins...) but this one is an absolute corker!Ian P.
November 29, 200421 yr Commercial Member Are the VC gauges really as smooth as a 2D panel's? Not that I have any reason to doubt RealAir lol... this is a huge advaancement if this is really the case. I'll probably grab it later tonight, I've loved the other two RA planes I have (the SF.260 and the Scout). November 29, 200421 yr Hello RyanYes they are. I think you will be very pleasantly suprised!CheersTimhttp://members.chello.nl/t.westnutt/realair.gif
November 29, 200421 yr The gauges seems to have the same fps as the rest of the sim. Just out of curiosity I tried IL2, Pacific Fighters and XPlane, and all of those have the same smooth gauge movement. In the year of 2004 this should be normal! In my opinion this is the weakest part of FS9, and I demand every possible review top-scores and prices to RealAir for not accepting the default FS9 gauge refresh rate! This is a dream addon, THE Spitfire with Pacific Fighters quality cockpit, but with clickable gauges, in a peaceful sim. When you people get it, try zooming in to those radios and tune, the digits are animated, and moves completely smooth. And try a spin, she shakes and rattles, your head shakes, and because of the gauges you can level out just in time. WOW! I'm not RealAir crew, not even beta-tester, I just love this plane. Honest!brEagle
November 29, 200421 yr Hi Tom,We are shortly to move all our aircraft over to EURO based pricing. The reason is simple: We started RealAir as a dollar based enterprise out of recognition of the dollar as an international currency. But in real terms the 2 year dollar slide resulting in 40% of its value being lost has meant that while US customers got a fair deal, European customers were paying a ridiculously low equivalent price for the same aircraft. So much so that recently the serious dollar slide has resulted in our aircraft costing almost half what they did two years ago!We couldn't continue to be in business if this went on any longer. We have held back from doing this as long as possible but the business is no longer viable based on the dollar at the same pricing as in the past, and I think you'll find that many European online businesses are going the same way.The solution is for the US treasury to stop the serious decline in the dollar. We don't want to upset our US customers in anyway but we can't continue to operate based on a dollar which is in free fall.Kind Regards,Rob Young - www.realairsimulations Robert Young - retired full time developer - see my Nexus Mod Page and my GitHub Mod page
November 29, 200421 yr Rob, if you live and work in Europe, and your costs are incurred in Euros, then your point is valid. However if you have a US based team and your costs are in dollars, I think you are simply denying European users the value of dollar fluctation. You absolutely injure Australian users in this plan imho...because the Euro is even more expensive against the A$.Much depends on how RealAir is configured as a company. However 25 Euros is too much for this airplane in my view. If it were dollars, I'd buy it.One mans opinion only!Eric AND
