October 11, 201312 yr Hi all I am beginning a series of flights, exploring the south side of Alaska. Basically, from Juneau to Anchorage. No heavy metal here, no FMC, ILS... But a good old Porter, prepared flight routes, and a GPS. I try to favor small airports and better, muddy / sloppy strips. My first flight was from Juneau to Skagway. Expecting to admire the Juneau's ice fields glaciers. But I rather experienced bad weather. Lesson number 1 : I will have to adapt to the weather... Instead of magnificent glaciers, I was surrounded with threatening clouds, lashing and ice-cold rain. And 3/4 of my flight was at 10 000 feets, well above the clouds... As a compensation, the approach to Skagway at dusk was incredible. I'll post videos of my flights, departure / remarkable spots / arrival. For the technical part : FSD Pilatus + FTX NA SAK + DX10 scenery fixer + OpusFSX and everything else freeware (clouds, sun, etc) But for now, all I have to share are a few screens. If some of you are interested I'll post pictures / videos of my future flights here.
