29 inch widescreen

Featured Replies

Hello,

I don't have room for a double or  triple  monitor set-up. Instead I am thinking of a widescreen 29 inch monitor with a wide aspect ratio. Has anyone used one of these or does anyone  recommend  a particular model or indeed, does anyone have any advice please?

Thanks

Re my earlier post, this is what I'm asking for advise on please: 21:9 aspect ratio and 2560 x 1080.

Thanks

Phil

I have the 27" dell ultrasharp and it is very good. No complaints. Worth the money.

The most important thing to note is the 29 inch is a widescreen so you would want to make sure your fsx.cfg indicated True for WideScreenAspect= (the default is False).  I would use the nature resolution recommended by the Video Card display drivers for your monitor.  Sometimes the native resolution is lower than the highest resolution for your monitor so you should be aware of that.  For instance, I have a 30 inch Dell monitor and Nvidia display drivers indicate the native resolution is only 1280 x 800.  The best resolution is the highest (but it will be harder on your graphics rendering and fps) and mine is set at 2560 x 1600.  It provides an awesome fsx display.  If you get a 29 inch (and Dell has one -http://reviews.dell.com/2341n/225-4201/dell-dell-ultrasharp-u2913wm-led-monitor-29-inch-with-3-years-advanced-exchange-service-and-premium-panel-guarantee-reviews/reviews.htm?sort=submissionTime&dir=asc), your highest display setting would probably be 2560 x 1600 too (I suspect you saw the review and someone mentioning the capability of having a 21:9 aspect ratio too with this monitor).  When you start up FSX for the first time, FSX will most likely set the native resolution for the monitor installed so that's why you should go to the General tab and change the resolution to the highest available.

Hope this helps.

Best regards,

Jim

Thank you both for your help. I'm going shopping this week!

I recently switched from 3x22" DELL UltraSharp (TH2GO) to an ASUS 27" with a resolution of 2560x1440. The image quality is just superb! A client computer is used with two 22" screens for running utilities such as FSC, Aivlasoft EFB, RC4, etc.
