October 20, 201312 yr I've only had my monitor for 6 months and now this will come out. Meanwhile I'm using VSync + 30 FPS to get a smooth experience. Works like a charm as long as 30 FPS is maintained, which I not always can. So I'm saving up to upgrade my PC next year, but this technology will be my saviour! Now even 25 FPS will be butter smooth. However, how is this option enabled? Or is it always on? Verzonden vanaf mijn GT-I9300 met behulp van Tapatalk Arjen Vandervelde
October 21, 201312 yr Now even 25 FPS will be butter smooth. Unfortunately not. The range is 30-144hz so you'll need to sustain above 30fps. This is because lowering a monitors update frequency any lower than 30hz would introduce flickering. Those who already own the Asus VG248QE monitor will be able to install the G-Sync module themselves real soon (this year). It seems the price for the module could be ~$175 but I read they are trying to get it down towards $100. I think I'll wait until Q1 next year for the new monitors with pre installed modules though. But it sure is tempting to get the VG248QE right now just to be able to use this new tech.
October 21, 201312 yr Here's something to watch today: NVIDIA G-Sync Live Stream (11am PT / 2pm ET - October 21st) http://www.pcper.com/news/Graphics-Cards/PCPer-Live-NVIDIA-G-Sync-Discussion-Tom-Petersen-QA
October 21, 201312 yr Well guys you can have smoothening already if you just enable vsync 1/2 in inspector. tweak i'd never fly without. will only work at 30 fps though. I guess that where g-sync will be an advantage. Apparently you have never tried to the tweak yourself. I'm sure 40+ FPS is better when panning around, but when taxiing and making turns, FSX will be horribly laggy when flying PMDG planes and looking outside. Don't tell me you don't that. You either don't fly heavy add-ons or you just don't care about smoothness while looking outside of the window. It's a tweak I have found 1.5 years ago, and I will never go back. Always when I disable it I get reminded of how choppy FSX is, nothing beats the smoothness of VSync, believe me. VSync + 30 FPS will look butterly smooth compared to 40+ FPS and no VSync.
