Kuwait airport scenery (OKBK)

Featured Replies

Well, there is none, freeware or payware, apart from one very simple file that adds some gates.

Please feel very free to contradict me! Otherwise, any takers among scenery creators more up to the task than I am? (FRF??)...

Nope, just the gates & another file that adds some landmarks. Airport Environment pack and other freeware packs give a big improvement over default FS9 airports.

Just found a very nice one but it's FSX only..

Well, maybe we need to lobby the scenery creators! I did make an airport once (Chennai, on AVSIM) but it was only a stopgap, soon superseded. I couldn't create the kind of airport I have in my mind for Kuwait..

So.. who's up for it?

Now there is this:

A bit put off by the reviews - I suppose the AFCAD could be made better. Not sure about the flickering...

As for the ground vehicles, There must be a value in the bgl file that could be edited once the file is decompiled in Scasm or whatever? Anyone know any details about which values would need changing? Or is there some other way??

Has anyone got this scenery and so able to comment?

Thanks,

Martin

At least we have a payware Kuwait.  I agree the airport traffic speed is distracting/off-putting.  MipMap Manager can reduce the shimmering.  Unfortunately AFCADS are a mystery to me so have no solution there for you.

I could redo the AFCAD myself, no problem. It's really just the comments about the ground vehicles - I posted about this is the scenery forum, so we will see if that is fixable (ed. seems not, so far anyway!). I suppose one could just remove any animations bgl from the folder and have no animated ground traffic at all..

Not sure I know about MipMap manager. May well have it installed - I have dozens of tools on the PC that I have added over the years, but no idea how it would work. Very possible that I my PC settings I wouldn't have the same problem in any case. Only one person mentioned it as an issue...

Thanks.

Martin I should have said the airport otherwise is fine.

If you consciously look at the airport traffic yes I find it distracting but normally I'm heads down with checklists, FMC programming etc. and therefore it doesn't bother me. After landing it's only the final parking where the traffic is really noticeable. I haven't sought to contact the developer, ARMI, since as far as I am concerned its not a deal breaker ... I'm just happy to have a Kuwait.

Yes, I have emailed Armi and we'll see what (if) they answer, but it's not a deal breaker as you say. I will probably get this scenery in the next few days - I can always disable the animated vehicles if I find them distracting of course...

Its not quite true to say there isn't a free Kuwait scenery as you will find one here:

Flightsim.com: trucial_states_1961

but I suspect the 1961 arrangements might be a bit limited for some!

At least it has a metalled runway, which Dubai doesn't!

Ah yes, all these 1961 airports. Nice for the nostalgia, but I fly 2015 as far as I can! I remember BOAC very well though (which dates me!),
