November 2, 201312 yr When I first came over to XPlane, I got the impression from this thread http://forums.x-pilot.com/topic/5002-nvidia-inspector/ that it didn't play very well with NV Inspector so I didn't bother with it. However after losing my normal NVidia control panel after installing the Game Ready 331.58 driver I decided to give it a whirl, and wow, what a difference. Just leaving most things off and setting Antialising Fix on, Gamma correction on, Line Gamma enabled, antialising to Enhance application dramatically increased the picture quality. Previously HDR's atmospheric scattering gave me a too hazy look, but now it's just right and it looks like someone increased the sim resolution. Not sure if my previous settings were just crap or the new drivers just work particularly well with Inspector, but if you're not using it currently give it a try. Of course everyone's experience will differ and I do realise that this thread is next to useless without pictures... i910900k, RTX 3090, 32GB DDR4 RAM, AW3423DW, Ruddy girt big mug of Yorkshire Tea
November 2, 201312 yr scotchegg, can you please post a screenshot of your X-Plane settings in NI? I assume you are using HDR with it ? I am not using HDR, so I set AA modes in NI to override the app settings. Thx! November 2, 201312 yr But it does, at least in non HDR mode. It helps reducing / eliminating the shimmering on my GTX 650 Ti. November 2, 201312 yr Author I read that NI does not work with OPENGL Xplane10 That's the impression I got, but it certainly seems to be making a difference now. can you please post a screenshot of your X-Plane settings in NI? I assume you are using HDR with it ? Really sorry mate, embarrassingly I still don't have an online photo account to upload pictures from. Really, I just changed the settings I put in the original post. Yes, using full HDR:) i910900k, RTX 3090, 32GB DDR4 RAM, AW3423DW, Ruddy girt big mug of Yorkshire Tea
November 3, 201312 yr This may sound stupid, but every time I try to download nVidia Inspector, all sites try to download a downloader program. I exit because I'm not doing that. Is there a location where what I want is all I get? Thanks, John John Wingold
November 3, 201312 yr Try this link : http://www.freewarefiles.com/downloads_counter.php?programid=61405 John
November 3, 201312 yr John, my email goes in a PM to you. Should you not be able to download from the link above, please email me and I'll send it to you ;-) Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)
November 3, 201312 yr Really sorry mate, embarrassingly I still don't have an online photo account to upload pictures from. Really, I just changed the settings I put in the original post. Yes, using full HDR:) You don't have to Scothcegg. Simply take the picture in your desktop using the usual Prt-Scr and save it JPG. Then, when you are here at the forum replying or editing one of your posts, go to More Reply Options ( button right of Post ) and there you'll have an option to upload, and then attach that picture and place it somewhere in your post ;-) Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)
November 3, 201312 yr That worked John. Thanks. Thanks also to you jcomm for your offer to help. You guys are the greatest. John John Wingold
November 3, 201312 yr Ok, I can confirm that indeed using the bellow settings, with HDR and Atmospheric scattering and settings as bellow, gives me better overall quality as well as an average gain of around 8 fps!!! Thx Scotchegg !!! November 3, 201312 yr Thanks jcomm... I'm not sure my 560 can stand the HDR, but I'll try it this afternoon. John John Wingold
November 3, 201312 yr Author Good to see it's not just me. Thought I might be randomly blessed... John I have a 580 which gives me good results, but I have my in-game AA at 2xSSAA+FXAA as anything higher than this brings too much of a hit. I guess the best thing is to see if the simple settings we have above make any difference and take it from there. i910900k, RTX 3090, 32GB DDR4 RAM, AW3423DW, Ruddy girt big mug of Yorkshire Tea
November 3, 201312 yr John I have a 580 which gives me good results, but I have my in-game AA at 2xSSAA+FXAA as anything higher than this brings too much of a hit. Well, let me guess: You are using the version with 1.5 Gb of VRAM? SSAA depends very much on the available VRAM and the VRAM consumption of X-plane raises continuously. It6 now needs so much memory, that I am currently replacing my old HD 5870 with a GTX 770 with 4 GB of VRAM.. Karsten Schubert
November 3, 201312 yr Well, with HDR and everything else pretty much medium to high, I am now getting anywhere from 25 to 30 fps while making a loop in a mountainous area. I can live with that. Before switching to HDR, sitting on the runway in the MU2, I was getting about 39-40. There is some considerable improvement - maybe 8 to 10 %. I'm happy. John John Wingold
