November 5, 201312 yr Hi, please have a look at the attached image: There is what appears to be a double magenta line on the NDs. A solid one and a dashed/dotted one right next to it, running parallel. Seems like some kind of alternate or deviation route. Anybody knows what exactly this is? How is this programmed into the FMC? Thanks Dave Dave P. Woycek
November 5, 201312 yr It's an offset path exactly identical to the normal one.Let's you fly the same route only for instance 5nm to the left or right. Used when busy on certain routes. November 5, 201312 yr Commercial Member Anybody knows what exactly this is? How is this programmed into the FMC? Route OFFSET. Look at the RTE pages on the FMC - bottom right. Enter a distance in NM and L or R for left or right of track. It's in one of my videos, somewhere... Kyle Rodgers

November 7, 201312 yr hi kyle, great video thank you. it explains everything in details. the main problem that I am facing is that in the Rte Page I only have alternate on the FMC and offset is not present, as it is showing in the video ? weird issue. could it be something related to the aircraft config ? +10000000000000000 I kinda already talked about it, above, but...videos are worth a million words, so here: (Thanks for being the inspiration for my next video series) Remy Sarkis BAW1031 UAE1525

It's not a problem. You're just trying to get to the function when you're not supposed to be using it. The official explanation is a little longer: "Select route offsets on the RTE page 1. The OFFSET prompt displays when the airplane is in flight and not on a SID, STAR, or transition." As additional info, I did not give the range of acceptable numbers. The acceptable values are 0-99.
