just wondering if the -300 was going to be an expansion model; ie: pay extra or addon to the base model?

I'm not sure about the 777-300 model, but there is definitely going to be a 777-300ER expansion.

Yep, you have to pay. Expansion packs from PMDG are usually around $25 and include two or three models. Don't forget that since the NGX expansion, PMDG have added differences between the expansion models and the base pack. For example, the 777-300ER should feel heavier and longer than the 77L given the large difference in size. They also include cockpit differences, big or small.
