[28JUN16] PMDG DC-6 Cloudmaster for X-Plane Updates & Mac Release News
re: "Conversion to FSX/FSX-SE and Prepar3D is taking place and we will have more information on that process for you a bit later in the summer." what's come of this as of August 27th? nothing more than impatience.. it seems I'm more anxious for this (DC-6) than I was for NGX a few years back.. Any updates would be more than appreciated...

Favorite aircraft you want PMDG to make: Round 3
how do you figure the 747 is dead? While the base design is fifty years old, Boeing a bit over 2 years ago delivered the 748, a massively different 747, totally new wing, new engines.. the wing alone makes the 747 a new design.. I am sure that if Boeing had the business it could relatively easy modify the 747 further, my poor math figures that using 2 of the 777's engines, the 747 could easily become a twin! the 777 engines produce nearly 100,000 lbs of thrust each, the 747's uses four engines for almost 200,000 lbs of total thrust.. making the 747 into a twin alone would reduce the drag from elimination of the two engines making the aircraft significantly more economical.. seat miles or ton miles per lb of fuel I cant wait to see what the engine manufacturers will come up with for 777X !!! Imagine what the 747 could look like with the upper deck extended about 60 - 70% of the lower cabin length, using four 777 engines (current thrust rating) or two of GE90, Trent 800, or PW4000 with increased thrust..

777 has become completely unusable in my computer.
I've had the exact same thing just happen to me as has happened to Dennis! I've reinstalled FSX and fully brought everything back up to date and the same thing happened again.. I reinstalled Win7 64 on another SSD with only FSX and the T7 all worked well. I also added ActiveSky 2012 and FSUIPC (registered) and the T7 failed to load. I noticed that recent Windows Update contained a DirectX component and wonder if that might have something to do with this?

Boeing 787 in PMDGs Future?
Wow.. seems that with Boeing taking more than a casual interest in PMDG recently, whom else would be in a better place than PMDG? with an eye towards business.. it's a no brainer.. win win for both PMDG and Boeing; use of Boeing data/information integrated into PMDG 787 would be untouchable, in a class by itself Personally, I'm expecting just that... of course it's already waaaay behind (schedule-wise) just like the T7 currently.. B) Now there needs to be the integration of the best of FSX into the larger universe of X Plane; where aircraft "fly" according to actual physics "real-time" I see this is where the next era of simulation is heading; sort of 3D virtual reality; undersea, space, terrestrial, gravity, atmosphere, no atmosphere simulation of weather and effects of heat, cold, explosion, shock waves All types of simulations being part of a larger whole; integrated at the level of your choice. just day dreaming..

Big planes, little routes, yes you can.
The T7 like all other well designed aircraft are quite efficient throughout the entire load range of the aircraft. I'm using generic figures here.. On a short range flight; say two hours, factor the fuel burn reserves etc, 772 MGTOW: 650000 lbs avg empty wt: 308000 350 pax: lbs 70000 fuel burn first hour *lbs 50000 second hour *lbs 22000 reserves; *not real 16500 Gross wt 463000 or 40.39% of max gross that's less than half full.. you bet it'll perform like an angel; reduced time to climb will save tons! A T7 used in short haul, high density routes can be quite profitable as the majority of the weight comes from the fuel used for longer range.. cut the range (weight) and its ability to efficiently haul a given load goes up incrementally, its fuel burn in climb and cruise decrease significantly, plus no step climb; reach cruise alt in initial climbout.. field requirements get mighty short even full of pax! Imagine the revenue generated carrying 60 tons of $10 overnight envelopes.. that's a lot of cash! guess you couldnt get sixty tons of envelopes in one plane.. LOL! T7 is heavier than its competitor but its overall flexibility and durability increase long term investment value and ROI It will work harder, longer and retain its value vs Dispose A Jet another example.. N842EV a 742 built in 1973 in use today with Evergreen hauling cargo around the world daily some 39 yrs. old just photographed it in PANC last week.. Records show this aircraft has been "retired" three times already by previous owners; owned by Evergreen since 1993 Though inefficient compared to more modern, more fuel efficient powered aircraft, its procurement value vs operation costs make it viable today yet another way to find efficiency thru creative use of aircraft..

P46T is a 'widow maker'
sounds like my initial flights in the Caravan and Meridian. As a matter of fact, I've just completed my first flight in the Meridian after installing the updates; yeah I'm way behind in updating. I also inserted the modified cfg and air files offered sometime back, I'd developed a dislike for the plane; being too difficult to stay ahead of.. the mod I've just installed makes all the difference in the world, I actually really enjoyed the flight particularly the hand flown approach and landing. to some degree I would compare the Meridian to the PMDG NGX in terms of necessary pilot technique - that's it, requiring proficiency in that aircraft; cant just jump in and fly like default 172 the model fix has retained the complexity and need to monitor while ironing out some of the excessive skittishness that it seemed to have. The 737 on the other hand while more complex was in fact much easier for me to fly... All the best; time makes all technique better.

how to enter "maintain runway heading until XX' then turn to heading XX"
I'd like to enter way fix/waypoint (?) that maintains runway heading until like say 600' then to say heading 352° and onto vectors or first SID waypoint.I've searched for days, I may not be using proper terminology hence not finding what I'm looking for.If anyone can please help; let me know if its possible, how to do it...Thanks in advance!

PMDG A320
I sure would like to see a Dash 100 model in there too...I'm grateful that they are making the Dash 8, I fly in them regularly and have really come to like it.While I'm impatiently awaiting the release of the NGX I am taking up flying the POSKY planes... at least they have great models and I can get over the lack of FMS etc...I sure would like to see PMDG or some other hi quality developer make a Gulfstream series, I wouldnt mind waiting a few years for it too... getting used of that now...Regards,Ted Panamarioff Kodiak, Alaska
