No I didn't mean to disparage the idea. I just remembered what happened with the old one. Hopefully what happened before can be avoided.

 

 

Currently I'm using my upvotes to compensate forum members affected by those abusive downvotes. Not exactly a zero-sum game, but it gets close ...

This is a lot of what I'm doing. There are some folks who have a bad rap for past posts. I almost believe that people aren't reading the posts anymore and just downvoting a particular member. That's not fair to the member's current post or their current "reputation". For example, there is a AVSIM member who doesn't contribute much to topics, but LOVES to tell us how controlling AVSIM staff are. One time the forum goer posted some good information and ,IMO, deserved a "+1".

 

To me a +1 says either one or both:

* Great Post (whether I agree or not)

* I think the same, but there is no need to take up space saying that

 

To me a -1 says:

* Your post was bad, but not bad enough to click report

That's my impression, too: A number of downvotes are aimed at people, not at their posts.

 

Maybe one month of vacation from AVSIM would be a good idea, as well. Forums are just my second addiction to flightsimming, after all ...   :lol: 

i only use Tapatalk to read and post.. i dont see the vote options here anyway or am i missing something?

personally i dont think the system has any relevance unless we are voting on products.. reviews or submitted photos.... id always prefer to see someone revealing themselves via their written opinion rather than an anonymous vote..

.. credit to the admins though for trying something new.. im always in favor of experimentation
