Too much smoke ?

Featured Replies

Why is there so much smoke on engine 2 ?

I can avoid it turning the AutoBrakes switch to OFF Position ( because  the ABS Disarm light switched on).

This is probably normal, but an explanation would be helpfull.

Thanks.

Is it not just a the lighting making the smoke look black? Can you see it during the day. I can't say I've ever noticed this before

Check to make sure you haven't got engine failure ticked in your PMDG settings

Thanks for your quick replies.

I'm newbie but it doesn't seem there is an engine failure programmed.

Except the ABS DISARM light, there is no light or warning in the overhead panel or any alert in the SD.

I confirm that the smoke stops immediatly after I switch off the ABS.

It's not normal, but it's likely not a problem with the MD-11.  This usually comes from add-ons that mess with default FSX effects (particularly REX, it seems).  From my searching right now, it seems to be caused by missing/corrupted files.

Try searching for a replacement fx_1.bmp and fx_smoke.bmp.

Here's one example: http://www.realenvironmentxtreme.com/forums/index.php?/topic/8636-black-smoke-contrails/

You're welcome.  If it doesn't work, I have another idea, but I'll have to do a little more research to find it.  I think I remember this coming up before, but I don't quite remember what the fix was, or what happened.

This sometimes happens if you re-load the aircraft on top of itself. You must only load the aircraft once.

Best regards,

Robin.
