November 27, 201312 yr You are totally correct. I have always been under the assumption that anything higher in the scenery library trumps anything below it and it does except in this case. This is my first with photoscenery in Orbx/FTX regions. Thanks for the correction and apologize for any confusion I might have caused. No worries, Jim. Wish it did work that way, as it would simplify some things that I'd like to be able to do. Any objects hand placed will be seen on top of photoscenery. That includes all Orbx airports, any cities, partial airports, landmarks, partial cities, hand placed trees, etc... Agreed on scenery objects, as can readily be seen with default objects as well. As for Orbx airports, yes most things should "work", especially if you have the underlying Orbx region so elevation issues work out, as most Orbx fields depend on their region's custom mesh. In practice, I expect some airports work better than others. For example, the Bozeman, MT airport (KBZN) is said to work quite well with BlueSky photo for the area, but I recall some issues when someone tried to do one of the Oregon fields with MSE v2. Alignment, mesh and color matching are all potential issues, I'd guess. Scott
November 27, 201312 yr Moderator I look forward to seeing the shots of DFW. Thanks for the responses. I have become a huge fan of Photoscenery but would like that little extra punch. Ok, sorry for the later response, but here are some example of UTX lights over photoreal. As mentioned in my first post, MegaScenery SoCal, Dallas, MSEv1, and MSEv2 are complete different as the MegaScenery City packs like SoCal, Dallas, etc have night textures as does MSEv1 which is no longer on sale. If your using MSEv2 then it reverts to stock, GEX, or FTXG at night, so it doesn't matter if your using v2 at all. The pics below are with MS Socal, Dallas and Vegas, as well as NY MSEv1. Be sure to click for the large size. The first 3 are SoCal and FSDT KLAX. This one is facing FSDT KLAS. This is KDAL. These 2 are around FSDT KDFW. This last one is FSDT JFK with MSEv2, Overall I like the look of photoreal with night textures and the lights, makes for nice approaches at night in the PMDG birds. November 28, 201312 yr Author I am exclusively MSEv2.0 and FTXG. I also cannot turn on FTXG at all with MSE loaded as I tend to crash during pre-flight when the FS2Crew F/O starts doing his altitude settings.. EVERY TIME, like clockwork. I turn off FTXG and leave MSE2.0 on and no crash. Maybe I have the wrong load order. Man, I would love to have my nights look like this. I think I am going to have to just probably compromise and run FTXG exclusively with Vector Lighting on when I do night flights and turn on MSE during day flights. November 28, 201312 yr Moderator Man, I would love to have my nights look like this. Thanks, it look pretty cool and is no wonder I like to fly at night. Fortunately no crashes or problems with the way I am running it right now. If you have UTX just but the older MegaScenery city packs for Dallas, Vegas, Phoenix, and SoCal and you can get the same results, but you will have to deactivate the ORBX lights. I have not invested in FTXG as nice as it looks and am still running UTX with GEX, using UTX for my night lights. Its too bad that the new MSEv2 has no night textures like v1 did, as well as having to download whole states or the few city packs they have now, which still have no night textures. That's the only reason I have no invested in MSEv2. No nights, no sale for me. Their old system was nice as you just buy the grid for the state you wanted and it had night textures included. Glad I stocked up on the v1 stuff before they pulled it from their site. Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
