December 17, 200421 yr Tossing up what one of these 2 to purchase. Any one own both? What are your comments? I am opting more for the CRJ as delta(comair) uses these. Also 1 of my questions is regarding the FMC on the CRJ. Can you completely build the flight plan with it? IIRC in the very first versions the plan was loaded via the FS flight planner and not modifiable. Has this changed ? and/or can you plan manualy using waypoints and VIAs?How are the flying qualities?BTW I trolled through the FeelThere forums and read the comments there, just dont feel prudent to post a question like this in that forum. December 17, 200421 yr Hi Roman,If its a toss up between the CRJ and the ERJ, I would plump for the ERJ, it is a more "complete" addon, the FMC is fully functional. That is not the say the CRJ is not good, it is, I own them both, and they are both very good, with some outstanding flight dynamics. The ERJ is a very nice addon, and to be honest I can't really find fault with it personally, in fact, since I got it, its one of the most flown of my planes. The support is pretty good too.Dan.
December 17, 200421 yr The ERJ is the one to get.The CRJ is very nice as well, but, like Dan said, the ERJ is more complete. Ark -------------------------- I9 9900K @ 5ghz / 32GB G.Skill (Samsung B) / Aorus Master Mobo / EVGA GTX 2080Ti FTW 3
December 17, 200421 yr I dont have the ERJ but I have all the CRJ models and I really like them. They are not overly complex and I like that for flying some nice short hops. Also ther is the Fact that you have the 200, 700, and 900. If the mood strikes I can hop into one of the more complex add ons I have and fly them. That being said I hope they one day upgrade the CRJ to the ERJ standards. I think you will be happy with what ever you decide.Andrew Andrew
December 17, 200421 yr Go for the ERJ. Just to hear all the aural warnings, dings and blings the plane gives you is an experience in itself.ricardo
December 17, 200421 yr I've got both and agree that the ERJ is more complete. Both are great planes though.Given the choice if I had to keep only one it would be the ERJ.__Josh
December 17, 200421 yr Don't know if you have considered the Flight 1 ATR, but it is an awesome aircraft ( best flying AC in FS I think), and is utilized extensively by Comair in real life. On the Flight 1 ATR Forum there are quite a few Real ATR Airline Drivers that regularly fly the Simn and contribute to the Forum. That about says it all, in my opinion. I love it cause it is great for short hops, and hand flys very well. http://www.flight1.com/products.asp?product=atr1
December 17, 200421 yr I have tried the CRJ once, however is a real frame killer. Never tried the ERJ...and have no plans on getting it. Brent Lewis
December 18, 200421 yr Author I own both and agree with the others that the ERJ is better. However, if you use the CH Throttle Quadrant don't expect it to work with the ERJ without extensive tweaking. It is so extensive I have been unable to make my first flight because I haven't had the time to fiddle with the calibrations and FSUIPC. And when I'm done, I don't think the reverse thrust function of the CH TQ will work. FeelThere apparently does not acknowledge the existance of FSUIPC and CH TQ. Also, for some never explained reason, neither panel comes with simicons or clickspots to access the various (superb) subpanels. Until FeelThere corrects these issues, I can't recommend the purchase of either. It's ashame because they've done a fantastic job of modeling the ERJ.My 2 cents.Bob Gramm
December 18, 200421 yr Just an idea for a quick-and-dirty fix that may work temporarily with your CH TQ...I couldn't be bothered programming everything when I first started so, as a stop-gap to get reverse thrust, I assigned two functions within FS: Lever 2 idle detent = "throttle closed" (i.e. keyboard F1), Lever 2 Reverse detent = "decrease throttle" (i.e. keyboard F2) - The reverse detent is set to max repeat.OK, so it causes problems if you want to only reverse one engine, but it has worked for me so far to the point that I haven't bothered changing it!Ian P.
December 18, 200421 yr Author Ian,Thanks for the tip, I'm sure it will work. Also, I apologize to all, there are simicons on the ERJ. They were covered by the red parking brake indication because I was concentrating on the throttles and wanted to keep the plane from moving. I now strongly recommend the ERJ.BobG
