Optimizing dense clouds.

Featured Replies

I was fooling around with the .cfg file and noticed that in [Weather] the line  OPTIMIZE_DENSE_CLOUDS=0 was at zero.

I wonder what if i change that number to OPTIMIZE_DENSE_CLOUDS=1 the result would be....

And that is quite astonishing!

More volumetric clouds!!

Will anyone try it by yourself ?

Lets hear your results !

Could you post a comparison shot?

Also would be interesting to go back into your settings in sim and see what slider changed. I'm guessing cloud draw distance or cloud density.

Anyone know what this paramter does by now?

Well, just tried with OPTIMIZE_DENSE_CLOUDS=1 but wasn't able to spot any significant change in cloud views. By the way, what does "dense_clouds" mean?

WAG here Spirit but I would think it would be the opposite of WISPY clouds. Probably Cumulus.

I'm guessing it's DXT 5 or something as opposed to 32 bit.  Sort of like a compression algorithm, but that's all guessing
