Not that long ago, Qantas was considered the world’s most-profitable airline. Now the 93-year-old Australian carrier, famed for its unblemished safety record, is struggling to stay in the air without help from its government.

Qantas owns 12 A380-800's. This has to hurt in todays economy. I am sure they are having issues getting $'s/seat and I am also sure they can not unload them. This must be a factor in their own government backing a bailout. Emirates unfortunately IMO has the capability to make the 380's more profitable. The only other option I see is a merger between Virgin and Qantas. I don't see Richard Branson going for that.
