For those interesting in Jburg and this incident...a very good video, you can actually see where the 747 missed the turn....taxying at night in a sea of lights is NOT a nice thing to do. My old famils in towers ended up in headaches just with the sea of lights...Jburg is no different, but it is a BIG airport, lights always appeared to be sparse, and no centre lights either!

I noticed that at the correct left turn off, they had added a series of really bright centerline lights just for the turn, and that the edge lights going straight ahead (towards the impacted building) have non-standard colors...

 

...which means that ops knew long ago that this turn was critical.
