December 28, 201312 yr Hello everyone! A few days ago, I went on a Southwest flight from KOAK to KMDW to spend time with some family in Chicago.. And on departure and landing, I noticed something weird. THERE WAS NO FLAPS DEPLOYED! I don't know if my seat on the plane was at a weird angle, but on takeoff, I saw that there was no flaps. And on landing, the gear was deployed and flaps were set to .5 at the end of final. I got pictures of the wing, their kind of hard to see, there was a glare. But I also have many other pictures that look pretty cool, if you want to see them, just ask. Thank you! Hopefully someone has an explanation for this occurrence. -Valley Sorry guys about the photos guys! I messed up.
December 28, 201312 yr The only time I remember landing in a heavy with only a few degrees of flaps was at KSEA on the early 90s and we landed in a 28-knot headwind. Don't know if that applies to your situation, though. APUtech
May 16, 201412 yr On takeoff, are you sure they didn't at least have the slats out? "Flaps 1" is technically just slats extension. That's pretty typical for takeoff.
