  1. That is a tough choice, indeed. But, I'd go with MilViz, personally. I own a few of their airplanes, including the B-350i and I am not disappointed.
  2. I got FSX-SE as a gift from "Fisheye" back in January and I absolutely love it. My frame rates are faster than they are in FSX Gold/Acceleration and FSX-SE seems to be more robust. As of yet I haven't had any CTDs or freeze-ups, and my add-on aircraft, both payware and freeware perform flawlessly. I still run FSX Gold/Acceleration but I fly FSX-SE primarily for multiplayer activities, and rarely run it offline. There are a few good FSX-SE Steam sites out there to fly in that have adequate ATC and the online pilots using these sites seem to take things seriously enough for me to join their sessions. And then there are sites that are basically a free for all clusterfrak where pilots are all over the place, taking off from the wrong runways or strafing you during your take off roll. I don't visit those sites too often unless I'm departing with no intention of returning. If you want to host a session in FSX-SE it's very easy to do, and you can post your own codes of conduct to alert prospective pilots regarding what types of behavior are expected once they join your session. When I host a session I post my codes of conduct, the active runway(s), traffic pattern altitude(s) and suggested touring routes to fly when departing from my home airport which is either KSEE or KMYF. So far the most popular route has been the KMYF to KPSP, with the KMYF to KSBA running second. FSX-SE online is a hoot. FSX-SE offline is great. Seriously. APUtech
  3. Nice job! Great visual candy, and you handled your airplane well. Yeah, darn trees on the runway! Also, I must commend you on your choices of music--too often I watch sim videos with Mute on because the accompanying music is...well...so darned "Mutable." Your music was a great fit, I think. I look forward to your next video, APUtech
  4. Well, I got my wire snips out and was about to "do the deed" when it occurred to me that I'd seen some narrow, 3" zip-ties on the patio. I got 3 of 'em and cinched up 2 springs in three places. Hot DOWG! With the exception of that squirrely (and no longer used) z-axis, my Cyborg-X feels like a new joystick! Man, it's smoooooth! No more jerky movements to compensate for the high spring tension, no more pushing forward and having the tail of the stick lift. Looks like I'm not getting any sleep tonight, folks--I'm gonna be flying, man! Sheez Louise, why didn't I do this sooner, duuuhhhhh...! Thanks for the suggestions, guys! :yahoo: APUtech
  5. D'oh! You know, I thought of trying that; seems like it might work, maybe cinching up two coils...hm...
  6. Yeah, jcomm, the Cyborg X's spring tension is definitely a bother, especially when landing. I've taken mine apart before to fix the Z-axis (unsuccessfully) but couldn't figure out how to remove that darned spring. Rather than remove it, I'd like to try shortening it first with a trusty set of wire snips. What do I need to do to remove the spring? APUtech
  7. "Springless" Cyborg X? Could you please PM me about that, jcomm? APUtech
  8. The only time I remember landing in a heavy with only a few degrees of flaps was at KSEA on the early 90s and we landed in a 28-knot headwind. Don't know if that applies to your situation, though. APUtech
  9. MdMax, I was going through the OSM tutorial videos and had a wonderful "verklempt moment" thinking of how awesome it is to be a part of a worldwide project that greatly benefits those of us in the X-Plane community. Wow, this is really cool, yes? APUtech
  10. Hi, jcomm. I read about torquefix recently, and was wondering if its application was limited to Carenado airplanes. The post I'd read referred to Carenado airplanes needing torquefix to correct their roll problem. If I can in fact use it for my freeware airplanes it would help to end the mildly frustrating roll tendencies in most of my propjobs. APUtech
  11. Oops. I forgot to mention that I found both of the C310 files on Simviation. Thanks, aputech Firehawk44, thanks for your suggestion. It didn't solve my dilemma, but I definitely appreciate your help. You're alright. :-) aputech
  12. For a light plane flight it's Cut Bank Muni (KCTB) Montana, to Lake County Airport (KLXV), Colorado, or Albuquerque (KABQ) to Telluride Reg. (KTEX), Colorado for a shorter hop. Both flights are made in a Cessna 310R or 310Q. The scenery is spectacular both in real life and in FSX. For heavy routes (I'll forgo the ICAOs) I like using the B-757 for my San Diego Int'l to Los Angeles Int'l to Kansas City, Mo.(fuel stop) to Chicago Midway to Logan Int'l. I choose that particular route because I'll always run into some decent IMC along the way, and get some good "heavy duty" IFR practice in. The 310 routes are also my favorite real-world flights. The jet, well, that's just wishabee fun! aputech
  13. I apologize for this duplicate post.
  14. Good day! I've been using an FSX C-310Q twin (Filename "C310Q.zip") for a few months and recently located a 2D C-310Q panel (Filename "FP_310Q.zip") that replaces the Beech Baron 2D panel it came with. I have been unable to replace the Baron 2D panel with the "new" one (it has no installation instructions, so I was "best-guessing" my way through). What do I need to do to get the "new" panel installed and functioning? Your help would be most appreciated, aputech
  15. NikkiA, thank you so much for pointing out the info in the readme file. Problem is solved. I'm ADHD, and sometimes, as in this case, it can be rather annoying; had I exercised control over my excitement (and the resulting impatience) in finding a near-perfect FSX model of a Cherokee Warrior II, I would've read through the entire readme, made the necessary changes, and been as happy as a lark. But I was ecstatic! Couldn't wait! Again, thank you so much. The interesting thing is, when I fly real-world, distraction and impatience are all but non-existent; I live in the moment, and relish every second of it--even on hot days, waiting in the queue, passenger door open, a silly smile on my sweating mug. The P-factor in Rien Cornelissen's Warrior II model was just slightly over what I was used to real-world, but not by much. He really did an exemplary job on that Piper. It's the only aircraft in FSX that I tried out and knew instantly, yeah, this is right. This is just right. No other airplane in my FSX does that for me, and I have all of the airplanes in FSX that I'm checked out in, in real life. It's ironic that my best-modeled airplane is freeware. It's not as pretty as the others, but she sure flies the way she's supposed to. NikkiA, you've reminded me of the value of patience, and I appreciate it. You have no idea how happy I am, being able to tool around my old "stomping grounds" in a little Cherokee Warrior II that handles like the real thing, using my first pilot logbook as a destination guide. Today it'll be Salt Lake City Int'l to Great Falls. Thank you, NikkiA, aputech
  16. I recently rediscovered a freeware Piper Cherokee Warrior II I'd installed in FSX about a year ago, and decided to fly it today from KPSP to KSLC. I was very happy with its performance because it "felt" very similar to one of the Piper Cherokee Warriors I trained in, and it behaved accordingly. Unfortunately it has a 2 degree bank to the right that I can't correct. Ground taxiing is a bit bothersome because the airplane insists on veering to starboard with even a little throttle power. Opposite rudder counters the yaw, but not the roll/bank.When AP is activated she flies straight ahead and on heading, but not "true"; she still has that 2 degree bank, and if I look out of my port side I can see that the port aileron is slightly deflected downward, and my attitude indicator shows the same 2 degree bank. Is there a setting in its aircraft.cfg I can tweak to correct this? The airplane's file name is Warrior_II.zip, and I believe it's available on several good websites. Some advice on this would be appreciated; she flies better than the payware Cherokee Warrior I have, and I'd like to make her one of my "regular-use" planes to tool around in. Thanks, aputech
  17. I remember when I got my PPL the blood alcohol rule for GA pilots was : "8 hours from bottle to throttle." That was pretty lenient, considering how long traceable amounts of alcohol can remain in one's system after only 8 hours. I haven't checked recently on ATP restrictions, but I think it was "24 hours from bottle to throttle." This movie should be pretty interesting, considering the plot revealed to us. Will he be a hero, or a life member of a chain gang...? aputech
  18. I actually clapped after the video finished. Awesome job! Just awesome! Thank you! aputech
  19. Great shots of the 757. Back in the late 80's, early nineties I used to build the pylons and nacelles for that lovely lady. I used to drill the holes, and install the nutplates that held the "Louvre Door" located on the outboard side of the RB211 Rolls Royce pylons. When I screwed that Louvre Door into place, it meant the set of pylons (we built them in sets of 2, port and starboard) were ready to ship. It was really good to see those pictures you posted. Thank you, sir! aputech
  20. Hello, Is there a way to change the interior night lighting in the cockpit of a given airplane to "nighteye red" (or just red), for easier out-of-the cockpit viewing during night flights? If so, how can I do it, and what would I need to do? Any helpful info would be appreciated. aputech
  21. Will, are you using Internet Explorer when you try validation? I ask because I had a problem or two with validating A/C software, and their respective tech support people recommended using IE. Worked. aputech
  22. henry, I have both the CHProPedals and the Saitek pedals. For combat I like the Saitek pedals, since they seem more responsive in heated combat situations, though not as sturdy as the CH pedals, where positive 'centering feel' is not so important in the heat of combat. For all-around flying the CH pedals win hands-down. One reason is that when they are centered you feel it, whereas with the Saitek pedals, their centering spring doesn't feel as robust and 'tactile'(especially when I'm wearing my boots, and the spring tensioner is cranked up a bit) as the CH pedals, where I know by feel that they are at neutral. Too, the CH pedals are closer together, making them feel more realistic. I'm a GA pilot in the real world and have yet to pilot an airplane with rudder pedals spaced so far apart as the Saiteks. A fighter jet, or a light airplane's cockpit is a tight space to be in for the most part, and at 6'4'' I believe I know what I'm saying. At our desktops we have a lot of lateral knee freedom, so having the pedals further apart would make sense, comfortably speaking, but realistically it just ain't so, unless you're flying a heavy.I hope this helps somewhat.nswiii
