I am sold on P3Dv2...except for cockpit graphics resolution

Featured Replies

Have been using P3D2 for about six weeks now, and thought that I was convinced it was absolutely superior to FsX.  In particular the weather effects and the longer range autogen had made it difficult for me to go back to FsX.  But I have the Razbam Metroliner in both FsX and P3D2 and have been flying both of them.  The only reason I went back to flying it in FsX at all was to be able to fly in all of my ORBX FTX regions (while we wait on Orbx to prepare P3dw installers).  While I was flying the Metroliner in FsX, I thought it seemed that I could read the gauges more clearly.  I thought this can't be true, and went back to P3D2 and attempted to set the eyepoint at the equivalent distance to that in FsX, and surprisingly it seemed less sharp than in FsX.  I repeated this several times, using different graphics settings in both simulators, and could not get the same focus/resolution in the Metroliner in P3D2 that I could get in FsX.  I tried it on my Milviz B55 in both simulators, and the difference wasn't as pronounced, but again the FsX graphics seemed sharper.

I have read many posts in the LM forum that mentions "blurries" in scenery and cockpit textures, and have tried all of the fixes recommended, but none of them produced textures as clear in P3Dw as in FsX.  Does  anyone else have the Razbam Metroliner in both FsX and P3D2 who could share their experiences?

And setting up SGSS AA in Nvidia Inspector is essential for clear gauge displays.

I forgot which one, but there is a post at this forum showed that in NI, you need to set AA compatibility to "Bioshock". AA mode to "Enhance", then you can set transparency AA to 2x or 4x Sparse Grid Super Sampling AA (even 8x if you card can handle it - my 780ti OC can only do 4x). Also make sure the NI profile is associated with P3D.

That worked great for me, and the AA now is about as good as in FSX.

Hi FlyIce

Where do you go to change the Nvidia settings as you suggest?  Doesn't seem to be in the P3D2 Settings/Display.  I have the Nvidia GeForce 650Ti.

Thanks

If you haven't already you need to install Nvidia Inspector (NI). Within NI there is already a profile for Prepar3d, just modify that profile and apply it before you run P3D. You won't find those settings in P3D configuration windows.

What might be a good website to download Nvidia Inspector?

Thanks

Have downloaded and installed NI and made the settings changes suggested.  It definitely improves texture focus/clarity in P3D2.  Seems at least as good as FSX now.
