Scenery options revisited ...

I am really impressed how good XPX looks with OSM Europe + autogen and HD Mesh v2! X Plane 10 + this freeware and one has the most realistic looking scenery, at least in my opinion!

Hi, john, I use a gtx 770 4GB also. Turn your shadows on to global high and also turn anisotropic filtering up to16x. Also, set texture to extreme and do not compress it. This card can handle it! Ian

Yes, it can handle it, but the FRs are getting down into the teens.... No stuttering, but low.  Global medium, extreme resolution, and anistropic at 2x gives me upper 20s to 30s.  I can live with that!

I am using mostly extreme settings, then killing Shimmer and stomping on its corpse with 16x AA 16x AF and non hdr mode.

This nets between 20 and 60FPs depending on where I am, but I tested the sim at New York and fiddled until I could get a steady 20-something frames there. I figure if I have acceptable frames there, then probably nowhere else I go will be worse.

Hmmmm - go Paris, and crash X-Plane 10 ( mine crashes sometimes, and I have to lower my settings, but my graphics card is "just" 1 GB GDDR5 ).

Can I ask X planers for a favor ?  As I have decided that I am going to  X Ping. Just want some screenshots of Netherlands - EHAM- and Bravo Victor and  Frankfurt areas with HD Mesh 2 and some photo scenery from simheaven (that is only if you have it and do not need to download just for a screeny).

I ask as I only fly in Europe under vatsim as my country (India) does not have any good scenery / traffic and vatsim Atc is hardly online.

Thanks.

I'll try to take some, but the SimHeaven photo scenery for the Netherlands is not yet upgraded to v2 mesh I believe...

That would be wonderful. Let me have a look at simheaven and see if it contains the photoscenery.

I think this is the one only Amsterdam but that's ok

Better get the ZL17 version, from December 28th!  I believe that one is already HD Mesh V2 too - but it's 2+ GB!!!

Here are a few shots taken before leaving for lunch... It's X-Plane 10, with HD Mesh V2, SimHeaven Europe OSM + Autogen and also UrbanMaxx Pro v2 ($7,95, the only payware here ... ):

Jcomm,

Thanks for the screenies. Is AA turned off ? as the the terrain has some jaggies on them , hmm your GPU 1GB only. Have you tried compressing the textures ? I had done that in the demo.

I like extreme scenery density, so it took me a while to balance things for the frame rates I wanted, especially since I really hate shimmer.
