January 19, 201412 yr I am trying very hard to learn how to make my own flight plans in PFPX. So far I have done very well (I think) after reading and watching many tutorials. Importing the flight plan into PMDG 737 NGX FMC is working quite well. Now this is where my problem starts, I am sitting at the gate and contact Ground with no choice to taxi with a flight plan. I am only offered VFR as a choice. How do I file my flight plan with FSX ATC? Ric Elmore
January 19, 201412 yr I would suggest loading the flight plan with the FSX flight planner before you start the sim. Then when you start the sim the FSX atc should have your flight plan which is the same plan that you load from the NGX FMC.

January 19, 201412 yr Default ATC has no idea about sids, stars, separation or in fact any thing that has to do with real life ATC. vatsim s3
January 19, 201412 yr Author Well, I entered a FP through PFPX for both FSX and 737 NGX and it seemed to work. They changed runways for take off on me and then I lost my route after Blythe. Ric Elmore

You lost your route could you elaborate on that? At some point FSX ATC will tell you resume your own navigation and you just fly the route that is in the FMC.
January 20, 201412 yr IIRC FSX ATC options are for you to file an IFR flight plan, go VFR or request flight following... Will this IFR FP ATC option auto use your PFPX imported flight plan? Chris Camp
January 20, 201412 yr Author You lost your route could you elaborate on that? At some point FSX ATC will tell you resume your own navigation and you just fly the route that is in the FMC. It disappeared in the PMDG FMC. I had planned a route from KSNA to KPHX in PFPX and it chose Departure runway 01L. I filed the exact same flight plan with FSX ATC and when I asked permission to taxi to runway, they switched me to runway 19R. I took of and allowed A/P to take me out and I noticed on the Magenta flight course it stops at BLH. IIRC FSX ATC options are for you to file an IFR flight plan, go VFR or request flight following... Will this IFR FP ATC option auto use your PFPX imported flight plan? PFPX converts and places both flight plans in the appropriate folders. Ric Elmore

Also I am going to guess you do this but do you check for any route discontinuity?
January 20, 201412 yr Just to confirm... the default FSX ATC will use and dispatch you according to the PFPX plan imported into FSX, including route waypoints? Chris Camp
January 20, 201412 yr Just to confirm... the default FSX ATC will use and dispatch you according to the PFPX plan imported into FSX, including route waypoints? Yes if you load it from the flight planner on the FSX main screen. It will not recognize sids and stars as was mentioned above.
January 21, 201412 yr Author Did you change the runway on the FMC? Also I am going to guess you do this but do you check for any route discontinuity? Yes I changed the runway in the FMC prior to take off. I did not check prior to take off for any discontinuity, I assumed it would correct it in the FMC. After discovering the problem I tried to enter the way points according to my printed flight plan, but the FMC kept reporting errors. Ric Elmore

I would guess when you changed runways it disconnected something and that is why the rest of the route went away.
January 21, 201412 yr Check "LEGS" page on FMCIf your next waypoint is ☐☐☐☐☐ then your magenta line will go to "nowhere". You will likely find some more waypoints after ☐☐☐☐☐ Line select the next one, and then line select ☐☐☐☐☐ In the image below, the Magenta Line (And LNAV) Will STOP at JAVSI. If you select SMO and place it over the top of ☐☐☐☐☐, the LNAV/Magenta line will continue from JAVSI to SMO. You may notice the waypoint before JAVSI is also SMO. This means the aircraft will turn back and head back the way it came if you select SMO after JAVSI. A better idea is to press the button "Next Page" (above the 2 and 3 buttons) to see what comes after SMO and select this instead. You won't be able to insert a "JAVSI" from page 2 right after "JAVSI" on page 1, (Go from JAVSI to JAVSI via 0 atomic diameters), however you can place it "On top" (removing one from existance). Another option may be to line select SMO and then place it over the top of the first SMO, this will delete "JAVSI" on page 1 and the flightplan will continue on from the first instance of SMO. That's a load of text, but a picture paints a thousand words. At KSNA most flights use 19R, 01L is used when we have Santa Ana wind conditions, wind blows 180 Degrees off norm at that point. For some reason When you "Free Flight" select KSNA the default active runway in FSX its 01L, go figure. PFPX also chose 01L, but I thought nothing of it because of the current Santa Ana conditions at the time I created the FP. Ric Elmore
