PNF "80 kt" call

Featured Replies

Hi gents,

I've seen some past discussion on an "80 kt" PNF call during take-off roll with no definitive answer from PMDG.

Would PMDG consider adding it as an option in future 737/777 updates?

Thanks!

Do all SOP's have the call at 80 knots?
I've seen some call 100.

I've seen some call 100 on dry runways and 80 on wet runways.

I guess it could be made an optional call in the FMC menus along with the V1 Rotate calls.

Positive Rate call too?

Some airlines do have different SOPs, but 80 kts seems to be the most common.  It's also modeled in FS2Crew products.

80 knots - hold - check...

Could maybe replace that with the PNF calling V1. Since I have the option for the aircraft's system to say that - PNF to only call rotate.

FS2Crew has it - once the 777 version is out you'll have all the collouts you want.

With kind regards, Bogdan Misko.

United has been using the 100kt across all fleets. This became SOP post merger with CO.

As cool as FS2Crew is, I couldn't use it unless I could get it molded around the flow/SOP I've acquired over the past months! I'd miss doing everything too - I guess I love the challenge of turning a two man operation into single CRM ^_^ Nonetheless, it's still an excellent product.

There are lots of different procedures out there. In my company we give priority to the incapacitation check. We call "80kts" - "check" - "HOLD". (As per Boeing procedures (787)).

There are indeed many different SOP's out there but as for the sim, I guess Boeing's SOP should be standard - there's nothing wrong with ANY SOP, really,  since they all work.

Lufthansa, for instance, calls "Go" instead of "V1", which is rather unique.

Most companies have policies in place that require a crew to reject a takeoff for any malfunction in the low speed regime (<80kts is fairly standard). Between 80 and V1 a RTO is usually received for serious items only (ie fire, controllability issues or red CAS messages).
