January 21, 201412 yr Commercial Member Jim, that one is easy, just add 270 (180+90) to your Rwy hdg 26 degrees and voilà! 296! Jean-Jacques So I'd still do (270+20)+6=296 , I'm perpetually programmed to do it that way, lol. And you're right that's probably the best way. Sometimes I think it's easier to just look out the left window and note what's there, then turn left until it's in the front window
January 21, 201412 yr Just like you do minus 200 plus 20 or plus 200 minus 20, for crosswind legs, I do minus 100 plus 10 or plus 100 minus 10. January 21, 201412 yr I think the runway pair combo is the easiest... of course I know them all by memory now. But to be clear let's say you want the reciprocal of 117 radial. Round up to 120 (then drop the zero to see what runway you're thinking of). The other end of a Ry 12 is Ry 30. Subtract 3 degrees from 300 (Ry 30) and you get 297. You can also quickly crosscheck because you know Ry 11 is also 29 (think ry 117 reciprocal of 297). But yes visual aids are great like an HSI etc. Even on a Boeing style EHSI there should be a full compass option OR arc. I can't think of a plane that would only have an arc option available. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
