Microsoft Force Feedback Joystick Performance Fix Inquiry

Featured Replies

Happy New Year to all!I was inquiring to find out if anyone know has the force feedback issue with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 been resolved in the 9.1 update? Had anyone tried enabling force feedback? Some users report disabling force feedback and some suggest disabling ground bumps only. I have FFB disabled. It does add to the realism and I can't believe MS does not have a fix for this feature of the sim.I was going to give it a try this evening. I have not tried it since installing Service Pack 2 and the 9.1 update. Please post your thoughts and ideas. Thanks!

what issue are you talking about with FFB?

Hello,With FFB the FPS drops when on ground and ground bumps is checked.I did uncheck and all seams OK.

Hi,I have totaly eliminated the force feedback from FS9/FS9.1 but I am using the FS-Force addon (www.fs-force.com). A whole new experience! Not cheap, but very well done.Hugo

Me too!HOWEVER...I'm a little disappointed in Russell Dirks. His forum is no longer available, and I think that when we bought the program (a great program, I might add), we were told there would be updates for free and new additions. I've always wanted "turbulence" to be modeled, but I believe Russell has taken a leave from this program, and no longer works on it. BTW...I was a Beta tester on the program. We Beta Testers paid full price for the program (no problem), but we did have hopes of continued improvement and new features. It didn't happen, but I would still endorse the program, FSForce, 100%.

Not cheap, but very well done.>>Hugo >>I tried FS-Force about a year ago, and thought about purchasing it, but the price put me off a bit. I figured I'd give the software a while to ferment and get a few updates. It seems, though, that the product only was updated for a month, and hasn't recieved any developer support in a year. I also can't find the official forums anymore, which would negate the possibility of being able to share tips and profiles with other users. The price for this one seems too steep when we have commercial add-ons like ActiveSky which cost less and recieve ongoing, excellent support from the developers.I'll just leave FF turned off. I'll tell you one thing, though this Microsoft Sidewinder FF2 stick sure is solidly built. I've had the thing for eons.

I am looking at FS Force now. How do you like it? Do you feel the feedback reponses through the joystick? Price is not too bad $45 CDN. Any thoughts?

It is interesting that the FS-FORCE has no forum, no support but a working website. I wonder if you pay will you get the registration key. I think I am going to try the 10 free sessions.

I'm using the MSSWFFB2 stick and have never had a problem with forces or framerates in FS2k2 or FS9. Everything works a treat. Ground bumps is on with no ill effects. No difference in framerates with or without stick plugged in. You must have something else going on if you have to turn ground bumps off?? I run XP without any SW software. XP has everything needed included.

Put it this way i would have given up on force feedback in FS2004 if i had not found this software, it is well worth buying.Perhaps we can get the author to add turbulance and stall buffet if we allemail him.Anyway it is really is a case of use this module or dont bother with FF in FS2004 as far as i am concerned.

Russell Dirks....Are you listening? Many of us want to hear from you, and hope you are trying to make a good product even better. Please don't let this program die....without it, FS wouldn't really have any significant force feedback.

I recently purchased after trying the demo and got the Key within 24 hoursgreat service and a great program, I just wish that they had a forum to share profiles with other users.

I emailed the author and had a reply a few hours later in which he stated>At this point in time there are no plans for an upgrade. I did attempt to start work on an upgrade>back in the summer, but circumstances intervened and I really didn't get anywhere with that. I feel>that the initial release of FS Force embodied the bulk of what I personally wanted in a force>feedback program, although I recognize that there are a few other features that would be nice to>have, and that some people have expressed an interest in. Sorry if this causes some disappointment.>Best Regards,>Russel Dirks>Dirks SoftwareSo i looks like he will take some persuading to add features to FS ForceBut as it stands it is very nice indeed and also very stable on my systemI have not had a single problem with it, although it is well worth reading the manual through a couple of times.Maybe if the FS Force users here email him with feature requests he may relent and continue with further development.
