Tried to purchase the Q400 on The FlightSim Store today. I'm a regular customer over there and have purchased many times from that store but I am not allowed to purchase the Q400 due to "licensing" restrictions.

Is this because I live in a country at the &@($*-end of the world ruled by corrupt idiots (South Africa) or something else a little more logical? Never had such an issue before this.

Any advice on how to hand my cash over to Majestic so that I too can own this highly rated aircraft?

Never heard of that issue in Australia (where Flight Sim Store is).

Try buying it at PC Aviator Australia and see whether Dean there sees a similar problem,

The only occasion on which I have come across territorial discrimination has been this product and at Simmarket where the product is for sale at one price for European Union purchasers and a higher price for International purchasers (with or without VAT).The explanation given in the Simmarket product blurb is "The EU and the International Versions of this product are exactly the same, they exist purely due to EU tax laws." Perhaps, someone can explain that - and why I have never seen such a differentiation with any other product, on Simmarket or anywhere else.

Thanks guys! I went across to Just Flight and they were happy to take my money ^_^

Will be flying the Q400 shortly!

Greg,

Sorry to hear that you are experiencing some issues while trying to purchase the MJC Q400.  If it is not a problem I would recommend that you try another vendor :

Simmarket:

or

Just Flight:  http://www.justflight.com/product/dash-8-q400-pilot-edition-fsx-download

I know that there are a few other vendors now selling the Q400, PC Aviator is another if I am not mistaken, but the two that i mentioned are the ones that we have as the official vendors on our website.

Cheers, hope to see you in the friendly skies.

Do you know why Simmarket appears to have a two price system for your product?

As I said in my post above, I don't understand the explanation on the Simmarket website (which you say is one of your two "official" vendors) or why other sites in the EU (such as Just Flight) don't also have a dual pricing system for your product or other products (so far as I have seen). Is it only where the Euro is the currency of the country of sale?

As per Simmarket's page this is what they have noted:

International version:

NOT SELLING TO: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia (Slovak Republic), Slovenia, Spain (mainland), Sweden, United Kingdom, France

EU version:

SELLING ONLY TO: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia (Slovak Republic), Slovenia, Spain (mainland), Sweden, United Kingdom, France

NOTE: The EU and the International Versions of this product are exactly the same, they exist purely due to EU tax laws.

But why does such a procedure not apply when the Q400 is sold through another site in the EU, Just Flight being an example I gave?

And why is the dual pricing and availability for sale seemingly not seen for products other than the Q400 (even your Dash 8 Q300 Training Edition on the Simmarket site)?

It is merely of academic interest to me because I bought my Q400 through PC Aviator Australia It is much closer to home plus cheaper when the Euro-Aust dollar exchange rate is applied to the ex VAT price of the International edition on the Simmarket site.

However, I suspect those outside the EU  who are looking to buy the Q400 will have a real interest in the explanation.

We don't control the sales at Simmarket, as far as I am aware due to the application of VAT for all Eurozone purchases, hence Eurozone countries include VAT  when a purchase is made without VAT, according to the law the buyer must pay the appropriate VAT in his/her respective country.

For further queries, it would probably be best to speak directly with Simmarket for more information regarding this if one plans on purchasing from them.

Cheers
