Ext/ac vs ext/as

Featured Replies

Hello

First of all I need to say it AGAIN:

Thank you for creating this product. I am not using any other planes than NGX because I cannot stand them without FS2Crew. This is the most amazing addon and worth every penny. Waiting for 777 version so I can buy both combined. :) I also have fs2crew for Airbus X Extended but can't convince myself to fly buses (I got it in bundle pack together with emergency ngx and base)

And now to the point:

For external air engine start there are two options: EXT/AC and EXT/AS

If I understand it well during EXT/AS fs2crew connects air start cart and during EXT/AC Air condition unit.

In the manual it says that I should never use AC for engine start which is obvious. My question is - will FO connect AS when EXT/AC mode is on before engine start or will I have to do it manually?

Hi,

Glad you like the software :-)

If I understand the question correctly, what you'll want to do is select your desired external power setting "before" hitting "Run PF events" if you want FS2Crew to connect everything for you.

Otherwise, you can do it manually.

Yes that is correct. But let's say I want to start the engine without APU (so air start cart) and use AC for air condition. In fs2crew I can only choose "ext/AC" or "ext/as" not both together.

So I will always have to manually connect one of them? Yesterday I chose ext/AC and there was air condition unit set up by FO but right before engine start I manually connected AS - is it correct procedure? I did it because manual says not to use AC for engine start.

And second question - I come from Poland but I learned English for long time - do you still need any help with voices for future projects? I was a radio journalist for some time so I think I have good voice for it ;) if you need help just let me know how can I join the project :) best wishes

You can only pick one since in the real world it would be very rare to use the Air Start and Air Conditioning cart at the same time.

So you'd need to manually connect one of them if you desire that.

You can add your voice to the voice pool via here:

So if I use air condition how should I start the engine? Turn APU manually on before engine start? Or FO will do that in ext/AC mode? Thanks for tip!

  • 2 months later...

What i do is for EX/AC is say start the apu and then apu on the bus before the start procedure or you'll loose power as the FO disconnects the wheel chocks
